Sorry, I was thinking the State Qualification Category was just for Queenslanders trying out for the Aussie Titles and I didn't realise the Recreational Category meant beginners only.

So am I allowed to go in the State Qualification Category even though I'm from NSW?

Will I really have to join Surfing QLD ($50) on top of my $60 entry fee - even though I am a paid member of Surfing NSW (which includes insurance).

I'll ask the question on monday and let everyone know

Thanks everyone for all the questions and for those who have already entered. I thought i would tell every one my plan with the event and why i have changed a few things and where i would like to see it go.

First off i'll start with the Amature and this is one part i really want to work. i always see at comps heaps of new people wanting to give it a go but it can be hard when in the first heat you draw someone like billy watson, this way with the amature the playing feild is nice and level and it gives them a platform to work from for the future. The whole goal of this division is to have FUN and just love what you are doing. So when you ask a question like is this board alright to race on in the 12'6 class you probley all ready know the answer!! If some one wants to try and sneak a race board of sorts in to the Amature divison then really they are just cheating them selfs deep down.

Pro divison is for those who want to be the best and love competing i would love for guys to come from all over australia and even around the world. I would also like to hear what it would take for say someone from WA to come over, what they are looking for and what they want to get out of it to make it worth while?

There is a lot more to this comp than what is on the surfing QLD website and we will be working so hard this week to get the rest sorted out. I have big plans and a lot to do to get it all right and at the end of next week i hope to be able to have some good news for all.

To me this is what SUP needs its a comp that is not running of the back of something else its a stand alone SUP comp and this is the way to prove we dont need to be piggy backed off something else.

Yeah there's always going to be grey areas, i guess its all about how we handle them. As serg said we can't please everyone but we are going to try our best to please as many as posible(you know what i mean!!)

spewing ive gotta work all that weekend.

I just spent about 6 months wages on a 17' board........ The calendar doesn't work for me anyway though..

Hey OG,

All females if they compete in the female or amature division they have to compete on 12'6 and under stock boards.
If people dont have a stock board i will have some available on the day.

On the surfing side of it, she will have to pick either women or recrational and if she picks women then it's women for the sprints aswell

or if it's rec for surfing then it's rec for the sprints.

Sorry no distance race, as i would've loved to have one but to have 3 divisions left no time.

Yeah sorry no 14ft boards for the girls. Its another thing i would love to see as well but to keep it fair for all this year they will be on stock. I would hate to see 1 or 2 girls with fast race boards and the rest on slower stock boards, that's not fair for the girls who can not get full race boards. i want to see the best paddler win not the best board.

Phil the sprint race is short with a 180 degree turn a good weapon of choice would be your 12-0 PSH , the bouy turn will be where these races are won and lost trying to a kick turn on a Javelin or any other butter slicer like the new DC 14's or the LK's will be very hard and cost you plenty of time.No point in getting to the can first then doing a taker turn. I think it's a great race format and this comp is going to be a cracker...Well done and thanks to Jacko & Angie for putting together this great event BTW I entered today I'll be racing my 12-0 RH gun.
