Go to sup racer , for highlights , but with only a few miles left Travis Kai & Connor are all equal first but really spread out , it's anyone's race. Kai & Connor are way south battling it out together Trav is on his own but seems to have a better line. .... Go Trav.

Terrene had taken the lead in the women's race! Go girl! Still a distance left the girls to go though.
Sounds like the men's race is still a 3 way battle with them close to China Walls so only 15-25mins to go, but Travel in the lead!
Could the aussies take all 4 solo races this year???

Would be great for Australia to smash the Hawaiians and get 4 golds in sup and prone.

I'm pretty sure you'll actually find that CMC (aka. Mr NSP) has already said on the other thread that Travis's board was shaped by a local Hawaiian Billy Robello - a local hawaiian shaper, waterman and "great customer of NSP in Hawaii".

And Terrene, having signed with NSP only a day or two before heading to Hawaii, was paddling the same Maui built SIC f16 that she bought for last summer in Hawaii and rode to 3rd place in last year's Molokai race (one of Connor's old boards).

I won't say too much more here (because there's a whole other thread to debate that topic), but in my opinion (having done this race twice), riding a custom/local shaper's board (including, for arguments sake, a hand-shaped Maui built SIC) for a race like Molokai is no reason for NSP/DC to be any less proud of the achievements of their team!

Travis & Terrene have raced the Hawaiian's in their own waters, on Hawaiian made boards, and beaten them all! They've proven they're the strongest paddlers on the day! What sponsor wouldn't be proud of that?

Got this from the Sup Racer web site , and props today for the great race calling from Chris Parker on the Sup Racer web site , great job mate I was on the edge of my seat for ages reading your post.

So it's 5 Golds all up for the Aussies , and the prone boys we went 1 , 2 & 3

"So that meant Australia claimed all four of the major Molokai 2 Oahu Paddleboard World Championship titles today. Though just for good measure, Zeb Walsh claimed the men’s prone paddleboard stock class win as well, giving Australia a 5th victory. Combine today’s efforts with Jamie Mitchell’s historic 10x straight World Titles in this event and suddenly Molokai 2 Oahu belongs to the Aussies."

yeeeeeeeew.....

Could almost add 4, 5 & 6 to that as well. Jackson English (4th) is an Aussie ex-pat who moved to Singapore a few years back, and 5th & 6th were Aussies too!

But even with complete domination of the prone race, I still get the feeling that it's the SUP victories that define this years race. We've held the prone stage at this race for many years, but it's a first for SUP, and firsts are always pretty special!

true. we need to keep finding and encouraging people to take up sup. not be content with a good year.

also i reckon some more of our elite paddlers could have a crack at it. hope travis's and terrene's efforts inspire everyone.

still stoked by the aussies efforts in sup and prone.

even thinking i getting a sticker done like this

'TRAVIS GRANT TRAINS WITH ME'

I guess that depth some what has to do with the location. You cant take anything away from the Hawaiians, they are strong at this game. It would be interesting to see the results if an event equally as big and prestigious was run here in Oz and how many would travel all this way to have a crack...

What is the prize money for m20? Wonder how it compares to the dr race which is now putting up some good $'s.

This year the SUP Prize money is:
Overall Sup: 1st $3000, 2nd $1000, 3rd $500
Stock Sup (14ft) Overall: 1st $1000, 2nd $500, 3rd $250
Overall Women Sup (Unlimited or Stock): 1st $3000, 2nd $1000, 3rd $500

The paddle board money is the same.

But Molokai has always been, and in my opinion will always be, about the challenge and the race to most of the athletes, rather than about the prize purse! The race has sold out weeks before the closing date for at least the last 3 years, and last time I did it in 2011, I'm pretty sure 1st prize was $750 = just enough to cover your escort boat, and the race was still sold out early. So it's not a race you do just for the money.
