I'm gonna try and do about 6 hours straight, this will be good Molokai training. Maybe another small stint in the wee morning hours to help jacko along.

I'm bringing my donor and pillow down to.

Can't wait to see everyone help out.

Ok, we seem to have a lot of paddlers who want to put their hands up and help out with this effort.

I am putting together a team of around 8-12 people, which would mean around 2-3 hours each. So far we have CMC, Laceys, Piros, Dale Chapman and I "signed up". If you would like to join this team please send me an email with your contact details and preferred time slots.

If you are from interstate and want to paddle let us know and we will slot you into a team. Dont worry about equipment as we should have plenty here. If you cant make it over and want to donate then I would suggest contacting Jacko at his shop.

For all those SUPSA members out there, get behind this event and please respond to Mike's request to register with him or send me a PM and I will pass onto Mike. There should be plenty of SUPSA people involved in this event, you will need it for nothing else but to get the booze out of your systems after Friday night. We would really appreciate also seeing wives, partners, girlfriends, children as well get out on the water, even the smallest amount of time paddling will be benefiting those that are less fortunate than us. We will attempt to get as many teams together as possible.
Also, don't forget that the guys will need as many paddlers on the water throughout the night as well encouraging them to keep on going.

Well done guys, great cause.

Maybe you should have a sponsorship thingy so us interstaters can get involved.

Hey mate what about some thing like 50cents for every km i can do in 24 hours?? i'm going to run 2 gps watch's on my board and if they both come out the same then thats how far i paddled!!! I was going to try and set a WR but didn't have the time to get it all through so i think i will just try and set a bench mark for anyone else who want to set one in the future, hopefully it will give some other people some good goals to get to!!

Can you post on the ROAR website somewhere so you can downlload the form and fax/email it in? I'm assuming it will take credit card details.

Thanks

I've attempted 3 times in the last 3 months to get a GWR attempt with time and distance as the guidlines for the record but they keep sending back a similar record of about 500km done over a few days. This time round though I've put the application in for the time duration only and not the distance as they want clear differences between record attempts. The process takes 4-6 weeks unless you want to fast track it which comes at a $$$$$. Then the adjudicator comes at the price of accomadation and flights from Sydney as well as the time they spend at the attempt or you can follow the rules that GWR set down and send in all the appropriate paper work.

All of that stuff takes time and money unless you get the support of the media who can organise the GWR dude to come so that they film it, it would make great content for them.

Just an idea, how about putting one small prize up as a guessing competition for the person who can guess closest to the distance Jacko paddles in 24hours. Couple of bucks to enter and you have to be there at the end to claim the prize?

Hope to make it down over the weekend to support you in a great charity event.

So what is the record (unofficial or official)? The first guy (Justin Debree) paddled 49 miles in 24hrs, which equates to 79km (from land miles) or 91km (from nautical miles). I could not work out what the other 2 guys paddled.

I could not find anything in the guiness world records on stand up paddling either.

I like where this is going. How do you go about having an official from Guinness be there to make the record official. Could be another great way to gain even more exposure for the event, maybe a bonus contribution by David Koche from Sunrise if he gets it.

CMC and mikeman

I've attempted 3 times in the last 3 months to get a GWR attempt with time and distance as the guidlines for the record but they keep sending back a similar record of about 500km done over a few days. This time round though I've put the application in for the time duration only and not the distance as they want clear differences between record attempts. The process takes 4-6 weeks unless you want to fast track it which comes at a $$$$$. Then the adjudicator comes at the price of accomadation and flights from Sydney as well as the time they spend at the attempt or you can follow the rules that GWR set down and send in all the appropriate paper work.

mikeman there was another guy who paddle around Manhattan

All of that stuff takes time and money unless you get the support of the media who can organise the GWR dude to come so that they film it, it would make great content for them.

I have started another thread so that we can try and work out who has the unofficial world 24hr SUP record? Lets post on that thread to see what we can dig up? This will give Jacko something to aim at
