Yep, shouldn't matter who you are. Even Mick! He can surf every day and should share with those less fortunate.
It's worse when you have a 50y.o. internet local thinking he has right of way and gets caught to deep all the time, can't make sections, falls off etc and hogs waves on his mal (not having a go at mal riders, this just happened to be the case the other day).

This guy was paddling for every set wave, dropping in etc, paddling in front of me when I was paddling for waves etc. I called him a rude prick and then he went on to tell me how many years he'd been surfing there. I just replied with "wow, that long, you would think you could surf better by now".

I've never received or dished out any lip in the line-up but this was just too much. There would have been a dozen people who wanted to say something. I didn't really make me feel any better, not sure if it's worth it.

Good for you. Yeah, it can make you feel bad but if no-one says anything then people just keep ignoring the rules and it all goes to hell. Too many people are scared of confronting dickheads in the surf, not sure why. It's always funny when it happens when you're not involved. It never feels good when you are. But it usually resolves situations one way or another.

I hope someone said something to Mick that day. I doubt it. Damning evidence on that video.

mate i know everyone on here loves the no violence agenda and i am a fairly peaceful person........BUT some people just need one or two on the chin as a bit of hurry up karma. That is not just in the surf it is everywhere. I know, i have been on both sides. rules are rules people and you can only treat others like pri ks for so long before... so aloha and goodnight

Here's a few interesting comments from the surfers in that pic.

"Towner was towed into a solid one during last week's swell at Teahupoo and looked up to see local Tahitian and former World Tour competitor Vetea "Poto" David dropping in on a stand-up paddleboard. "Every time I go out on my stand-up paddle, every time I see a ski, I just let them know: 'Be careful. I'm gonna drop in on you,'" explains Poto. "Some waves you can't get on your stomach or paddling, so we have the priority compared to them (tow-ins) -- 'cause they can go so deep."

and

This is what Laurie Towner had to say..

"I was definitely scared when I saw it coming down the face 'cause it's such a big piece of foam," Towner recalled. "Then I realized who was riding it and figured we both could make it! Once the wave spat everything disappeared but the foamball gave me speed so I took the low line -- 'cause I figured if I didn't, I'd run straight into him. That's when I came out of the barrel, our rails briefly touched, we pulled out and shook hands -- it was a fun ride!"

It's great to see the surfers and SUP surfers getting along.. .. Anyone know what Naish board that is that he's on?

More here (with a great photo sequence) .. http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/laurie-towner-and-vetea-david-get-double-barreled_54449/

Interesting theory. I guess no-one's going to argue with the big local.
