Have any of you DIY'ers bought a SAILRITE machine in Australia? If so, from where please?

I bought mine from Queensland Sewing Machines.
Their service was and still is Outstanding

Sailrite are now only selling direct to the public i.e. from Covid Central. Queensland Sewing Machines do have an approx. equivalent arriving soon from Canada branded "Reliable".
Same size and spec but lower price.

This would seem to be a great product for hire or leasing.
1 month= $100 plus freight and sure for of assurance.
Also group purchase.
Something like the Seabreeze Granny's Sewing Circle.

Great idea, I have been considering hiring mine out for a small nominal fee (to cover wear and tear) as it sits idle most of the time. Just worried it might end up sailing off into the Pacific and not seeing it again. Need to be careful as I don't want to break forum rules so if I do it will not be through Seabreeze unless given approval.
I bought mine from Sailrite, the LSZ1. Deluxe, very happy with the machine and Sailrite really are helpful and geared around the DIY sewing enthusiast. plenty of projects and how to do info on their site. There is a cheaper version, but I'd prefer to support Sailrite, they seem like nice people.

Posts on PBO forums suggest that all the machines are made in China, and the Reliable brand is basically the same as the Sailrite.

According to this lady the Reliable Barracuda 200ZW is a lower quality copy of the sailrite. As always, in the end you get what you pay for.

Lost Dog - I notice you are in WA like me. A few years ago I looked in to joining the Mosman Park Men's shed. They had an impressive array of tools and equipment - including an industrial sewing machine that someone had bought to sew up a set of sails and donated to the shed when they finished.
I'm not sure if they still have the machine, and I suspect the men's shed is closed until covid clears up, but it might be worth looking in to.
I just bought a Sakura Stitch Sailmate from Queensland Sewing Machines , so far so good very nicely built bit of gear

Soon to embark on the daunting process of making a new dodger. Biggest problem IMO for DIY's here is sourcing material. Sailrite is a one stop shop for materials for people in the US but we have nothing like that here. I've found Bainbridge to be very good and have provided me with good service, but trying to source stuff outside of basic stuff like Sunbrella takes some searching, time consuming and difficult. eg patterning material, leather, and all the odd bits and pieces you need

Nolans are great for Stratglass, Sunbrella, binding and marine fabrics.
Premier Upholstery for Innova Pacifica vinyl, and general upholstery items, zips, tools and foam. They also have needles and a large array of threads, I purchased some Coates Dabond and the lifetime Helios from them.
Daleys is another source, I found the mesh vinyl there, great for breathable material under the squabs.

When I was a young kid helping out at a sail loft we used pattern mylar. I use it still for window cutouts and more. You can get it here but sailmakers have it in 1 metre wide rolls and I bought some from the local guy. Have a squiz around and you may find the metre wide stuff.

I don't think Sailrite have distributors, I bought mine direct and it was an easy transaction. Basic LSZ1 machine is $895. Or the full premium package with all the goodies is $1395. Us plus freight.
do some googling on Sailrites site, interesting article on how they developed these machines, honestly I think They are worth every cent.

Sailrite in the US. They will ship a machine and or spares and supplies. Good people
Queensland Sewing Machines were the Australian distributors for Sailrite until Sailrite decided to only ship direct to Australia. QSM still help me with any problems with my machine, providing an excellent service, but now only provide that service for those of us who bought their Sailrite from QSM. Fair enough. I can't talk highly enough about the guys at QSM!
If you buy a Sailrite from the US, assume all service will also need to come from the US.

I have an Ultrafeed Lz1 Plus that I have used 3 times. I have quite a few extras with it Leather foot and Feed dog,Plenty of needles, 3 large rolls of thread Brown Black and white, 10 extra bobbins, Purchased 3 years ago absolute Mint condition. Brilliant Machine.Paid Over $2000 Asking $1400. I purchased it new from Qld Sewing Machines. I live northside brisbane.
Liz, is this still available? Does the unit include the larger "Monster" flywheel?

I have a Sailrite LSZ 1 that i am happy to lend out (conditions apply). You would have to pic up and return in person to Shell Cove NSW. No courier or posting as i dont want it destroyed. So if you live as far north as Newcastle or as far south as Batemans Bay and your prepared to drive that would be acceptable.

I have been disappointed to discover that Queensland Sewing Machines no longer stock Sailrite machines and there are currently no stockists in Australia. QLD Sewing Machines sell an alternative sewing machine called a SailMate, but my motivation to buy a machine in the realm of $1000 has been to buy a Sailmate, due to their exceedingly good reputation as a reliable machine, fit for heavy duty use.
Sailrites from the US are quite expensive and postage too, it's prohibitive at the moment! Please let me know if you are aware of anyone selling a second hand Sailrite in Australia, willing to post to Melbourne :)

I would suggest reading about the Sailrite machines on this forum and then keep an eye out for a Pfaff 130.

I use a Singer industrial myself but I always keep looking for a Pfaff. This one on eBay is not a 130 I don't think but is close to you and cheap. 130's are usually expensive.
