Thanks. Have been using Feast Watson for over 50 years - they started in 1922 - an Australian company.

See here at Bunnings.

www.bunnings.com.au/feast-watson-500ml-spar-marine-varnish_p1561089

There are so many varnishes available now and all have their strident advocates............this one is as good as most and we are supporting a local manufacturer.............don't be put off by buying it at Bunnings...........why would anyone buy a varnish or paint not made here..........

Hi J B, I took these photos yesterday. We did this job 4 years ago last month and it is still like new even though it has been tramped on with deck shoes for 4 years. The non-skid areas are the Intergrit that I was talking about.

Boy did I have a painting failure. I started the first overcoat yesterday. The clouds parted and it rained for about 5 minutes on my half painted boat at about midday.

I then had some paint after it dried out and I hand painted some sections at the back of the boat which I finished at about 3 PM.

Went back this morning. Rained again early this morning. And came across a gooey mess of a boat. Even the sections that I did in the afternoon have turned into a mess.

Ill have to sand it all back which is going to be a bit of a job....

Sanded off no problem. Will try again tomorrow and aim to stop at 1pm no matter where I get to.

Let's see if this keeps the dew off. Have only painted the cockpit as a test.

And we are pretty much done. She looks amazing. When I look at old photos it looks like I have a new boat.
Just need to put the new stanchions on and then varnish.

Well done JB. Looks fantastic. You won't regret having done the hard yards.

Sam, I have to ask, does the plastic alligator help to keep the gulls off the boat.

Well yes Bob it seems to work, as long as it's mouth is open and it's teeth are showing the birds are fooled into not taking a chance. The Creek is notorious for shags eating their lunch on your boat and the foredeck is an attractive open space for them. The alligator has been there for a couple of years and so far has done a good job....for no pay. .

Thanks Sam, guess it's time to find a reasonably durable rubber alligator.

Well thought I would put it up early. Moving back to Melbourne towards the end of the year and will buy something a touch bigger. Or who knows I might keep working on it and take her down with me.
