It's a real shame that one person can foul things up like that. As a lot of you know I contribute on heavy weather which is a bit like cage fighting at times but the sailing forum is about sailing and there really is no need for nastiness whatsoever. It is all about sharing a common enjoyment and I know I have picked up so many good tips on here.
My mum used to have a great saying, if you can't think of anything nice to say then don't say anything and we should keep it that way. A bit of gentle ribbing does no harm, guess that's why we've all learned to put up with Cisco

but Frant, I don't know, has some sort of complex. I couldn't give a tinkers if he was the most accomplished sailor in the Southern Hemisphere there's simply no call for nastiness.
Like I said the best way to deal with it is ignore it. The other option is to alert the moderators right away if someone gets out of line and hope that they have enough interest in keeping the forum fun and informative. Although I sometimes wonder at some of their decisions. That said they did eventually manage to get rid of Milsy whom you could only give credit for perseverance. The problem with that is nobody likes snitches.
I often think that the best way to combat it would be to get rid of anonymity and use real names but then that has its risks.
And no worries Bannana!
Just hope HG comes back. I know he got a lot of enjoyment on the forum as many of us got a lot of enjoyment from his contributions.
