Solo sailing is generally regarded as anti social behaviour.
No doubt a Tasar could be quite sucessfully sailed single handed if the jib is not deployed.
I think you need to delve into the web sites I posted and look at the history of how the class was developed.
The Tasar is a progression from the John Spencer Javelin (my first yacht) and the North Shore 14, both of which are two crew yachts.
The difference with the Tasar is that it does not have or need a spinnaker as it will plane to windward.
The benefits of having a yacht requireing a fwd hand are numerous, some of which benefits are listed below:-
1. Someone to talk with, to or at.
2. Someone to reach into the Esky and hand you a coldie.
3. Someone to help right the boat when you cock up.
4. Someone to administer mouth to mouth resucitation to you when you really cock up.
5. Someone fresh to pick up off the beach after sacking the last fwd hand.
6. Someone to shout at when the whips are cracking.
7. Someone to blame when the cock up is yours.
8. Someone to do the dirty work.
9. Someone to praise your qualities at the yacht club bar.
10. Someone to have sex with when you reach the beach.
