Hi fellow land sailors,
I have been following the forum for a few months now and have decided to join the forum.
I am a blokart sailor from Sydney and am keen to get things going in and around Sydney. At the moment there is a small number of us sailing where ever and when ever we can and I am hoping with the help of the forum we can get to meet other land sailors or potential land sailors to get the sport going in Sydney.

Welcome aboard doc. You will find plenty to keep you interested on this forum and it is really easy to use as well.

The blokart forum seems to have died a death and "bugs" mk2 ie jiglu was hopeless. Check the older threads on this forum. You will find lots of good stuff laced through it.

Cheers from cisco. (blokarter Bundaberg Queensland)

Hi there Doc,best of luck with forming a band of blokarters in Sydney, once the word get's out and you get seen you will have a rush of converts i'm sure.We have got a strong core of karters in Mackay, today we had 9 on Bucasia Beach ,(teenage to grandfather)an awesome sight!Mackay would have at least 20 regular karters that i know of, and the number is growing, with plenty more in town which we do not see. happy sailing from Stevo in Mackay

Welcome Graham! I've added jiglu to the aussie web sites thread, but unfortunately I can't update the first post any more, so I've added it to the end. I wasn't able to get into jiglu, is it down at the moment?

There's a couple of documents about the easter at Lake Gilles in the photos section. If you need any more info contact David, the president of Adelaide Landyacht club at email address: budrose@picknowl.com.au. David is the one you have to register with anyway.

Cheers

Thanks Hills have emailed David yesterday requesting more info but not had a reply as yet.Any idea of start times and directions to the lake cause we would not want to be late for the start, will blokarts have their own start or will it be a mixture, sorry for being niave but not sure what the go is as have not seen any notice of race.
G
Do you camp at the lake or is there camp grounds?

Hopefully David will reply as I've not been there before. There are absolutely no facilities so I believe you just camp on the edge of the lake. Make sure you take plenty of water.

I've overheard discussions about whether blokarts should race on their own or not, but I didn't hear the outcome. It probably depends on final numbers.

Unfortunately I can't make this year as I'm on call for work and my wife is working but I think it will be a great event.

Hi all,

Just thought I would drop in and say hello from the new land kiting forum on Seabreeze, in case you have any doubts I can assure you we are very blokart friendly and it would be great to get out with you guys sometime for a sail/fly, it would make for some great video and some new alliances.

Feel free to drop by and say g'day also if any of you are curious about land kiting for eg buggying or ATB, we are always happy to throw you a buggy and take it for a spin :)

The majority of us so far are based in Sydney.

Regards
V.

Hello,

My name is Juan Enrique Quinones, I am landsailor from Chile, South America.
I am married, I have 2 sons and 2 daughters. I live in Santiago.

I built my first landsailer transforming my kitebuggy by adding a windusurfing mast and a 5.5sq mt sail.

Then I receive some plans from a friend who met Nord Embroden in the north of Chile.
I built my first true landsailer a Pacific Magic ( the plans went half way around the world!!).

Now I have 4 of them and we have constructed 10.

The amazing thing about this is that I met the Pacific Magic designer in Argentina, when I was assemblying for the next race in the World Championship.

Paul and Susan Day, were very helpfull!! letting me to borrow one of their 5.5 meters sail and giving me all kind of tips on how to improve my landsailer, making my experience on the world championship a more enjoyable one.

I hope that some day some of you could come to Chile to be able to share all our landsailing spots with you.

best regards

Welcome Juan!! Your English is better than most of ours, so don't ever let that bother you

Paul and Susan frequent this site as "Landyacht" and "Promo Girl" They'll be very happy to hear from you, as are the rest of us.

I'd love to see some photo's of your Pacific magics, please post some if you can, as I am also a pacific Magic pilot.

Cheers

Your english is better than most Australian, trust me. Good to hear from you again now that Susan ,myself and the girls are home and back into a routine. On the way home i managed to burst an eardrum descending into Santiago, so Im now almost deaf on the left. When sailing on my left make sure to shout. Hve you guys been thinling about the next yacht?
Cheers Paul.

Excellent photos Jeqs, thanks for posting them!! How did you attach the rescue stretchers at the front? I like that idea a lot!

The rescue stretchers were atached to the back axes usin a U shape screw. and in the front I placed a rectangular iron or steel bar and secure it with the belts I have for fastening the landsailers on the roof of my car.

I have to find more pictures with more details, in the mean time in http://picasaweb.google.com/jeqs44 there are lots of pictures of our adventures with the landsailers.

the triple landsailer pictures and some videos are at: http://picasaweb.google.com/jeqs44/Barreal2Noviembre2007
Please feel free to download them if you need more details.

Hi All! Are you guys Aussies? Do they do this over here in the states? What a blast! In Minnesota I never thought about it because we really don't have a lot of open area that isn't filled with water so ice sailing is big here.

I recently married and will be spending my winters in the Arizona desert and this looks like it might work great for me.

Someone was out on the Sail Design yahoo group discussing sail shape. I would love to talk sails with whomever is interested.

I have been designing custom sails and canvas for almost 10 years now.

My web site is under construction but you can see some of my work there. www.llsails.com

Thanks for sharing your awesome sport with me!

Liz

Hi Liz, welcome to the forum. We're mostly Aussies and New Zealanders here, but our member Kemosabi is from Colorado. Hopefully more from the US will join the forum as we'd love to see what you're up to over there.

Have a look through the construction section, theres a lot of discussion about sail design there.
