Thanks Laurie, Noted and absorbed, State comp in less than 10 days , looking forward to some domestic gravel rash instead of last years International blast.
If anybody is wondering why there are suddenly Landyacht comps again, I can assure them that attention on Seabreeze is half the cause
Or they are welcome to blame me as usual

Hang on, those ALSA people don't read anything on this forum do they???? They're all too busy sailing to read any of the foolishness here.

bajawind,

Sailing a blokart on two wheels as you show in the video is the first trick every beginning blokart sailor (and I suspect sailors of other landyachts) learns to do. If you really want to impress, post a video of your KK doing a "dutch roll" (a.k.a. "dutch flip"). If you don't know what that is, have a look at this video and copy it.

Sailing on two wheels is normally slower than 3 wheels. I remember when racing trailer sailers with the next door neighbour that you lean out one side to keep the boat as flat in the water as possible. This is usually desirable with blokarts (and I assume other landyachts as well).

Yes by going up on 2 wheels loads up the lee side bearings and also gives the sail a downward force and this in turn slows you down. Unlike sailboarders which pull the rig into the wind giving an upward force lifting the board and reducing the drag in the water.
This video shows the idea well, where on the model and to some what on the full size boat the down wind hull LIFTING and not being forced downward.
This type of boat would never tip over as the more lift it got the less sail would be exposed to the wind and be self limiting.
If you wanted to go super fast on a land yacht try leaning the rig into the wind.to reduce the overall drag of the yacht. Mind you i dont know how you would do it

You have plenty of Ice Sailors though don't you. The ice sailing speed record I believe is something like 145mph (MILES not kmh). That has to be the "bee's knees", the "duck's nuts" or even the "beaver's buck teeth" if you ask me.

Those sorts of speeds would bring a whole new dynamic again into the whole equation.

There was a video produced a few years ago called "Gods of Speed" which is about the ice boaters. I would love to get my hands on a copy. There is a preview clip of it on YouTube or was.
Cheers Peter.

there is a lot of doubt about the john buckstaff record of 143 mph nobody knows how it was time or who was present.
with gps etc skeeter at 84 mph on lake wallenpaupack sounds more realistic.
have a look at windjet-reality and folk law by bob dill
