Just tried #2 against #1
Aggro piloted #1, I piloted #2, half time change yachts. Very little wind (6-7 knots and swirling) Top speed 27kph
Result- #1 better acceleration, maneuverability, popped a wheel more easily
#2 higher top end, smoother ride
Conclusion-To much of the difference can be attributed to the sails, tyre pressure, scrubbed front tyre on #2 and swirling wind.
Bottom line- spend more time sailing

Far out Ian!! They look exceptionally good!

With Pauls design and your seat, you've got a very marketable product there!!

interesting that 1 accelerated easier.
couple of things to try in 2p when you wan to accelerate, bend your knees and slide weight forward then move weight back as you pick up speed, alsothere is a hint in that 1 pops a wheel easier. It effectively has a stiffer mast low down due to the "A" frame. Try having your weight to leeward as much as possible when sailing . This allows the rig to react to a gust by converting energy to forward motion , rather than wasting energy on flexing the mast or creating torsion on te chassis.
Physics lesson over

Could you design a bag on the back to carry the tinnys?

Just a suggestion
When building a mini I noticed everyone builds back to front, where I build front to back
By doing this I felt it would improve accuracy and ease of construction
1-centre the tube, set the angle and weld

2-set the mast rake, the mast tube and steering head are on the same plane and weld (the chipboard is cut for rake angle)

3- setup mast tube at 90 degrees to rear axle and weld

verses-spirit levels etc

that s one of the reasons for asking people to post their builds, great ideas, different ways of achieving the build, simper solutions............
nice idea Iand
