When ur attached to ur kite in not a sniff of wind standing on the beach in the cold on ur own waiting for the next storm cloud. Half an hour later the next one comes n u get drenched, but no wind comes, but u decide to keep standing there and wait for the next storm cloud cos surly that one will have wind!!! (Yep I did end up getting out, 1•5hrs of standing around but two 15min sessions of kiting so it was worth it!!)
Whenever there's not enough wind or no wind start thinking about a bigger light wind kite to add to quiver even though i hate chasing light wind. Somebody slap me
when ur coming home from school on the ferry, see its windy (about 20 kns), get fidjety and cant concentrate on anything that doesnt have something to do with kiting, then as u get closer u recon u probably make it from the ferry terminal to the kitespot in about a minute flat.
When your house mate calls to say they need to evacuate because of a bushfire and your mates ask you what you want taken and you tell them " kite kits with me in the car I am good!"
When your watching a documentary and get distracted/loose track about the topic after seeing the trees moving in the wind and think, "Hmmm I wonder if I could kite their and how many knots it is..?"
You go to the atm to get some cash out! reach into your boardies pocket and grab nothing but a fat hand full of SAND! and a stupid grin on your face reminds you how sweet that sesh was Yesterday!!!!!!
you get to the beach after a big nite at ten and the wind doesnt come in till two ish so you ket you kite ready and then catch up on sleep you lost, then you wait for your hat to blow off you face then your in... done this a few times
after surgery in hospital, the first thing you say to the doctor as you come out of general anaesthetic is....."So when did you say I could go kiting again?"
For me it was 16 agonising months - I kited the first time last saturday and it was better than sex!!!
What a better way to introduce myself to this forum by stating how addicted i am.
I kitesurf and landboard from 4-50 knots. When its not windy enough or wrong direction for kitesurfing i'm landboarding.
I'll try to feed my addiction at least a couple of times a week and will average more than 100 sessions per year split between land and water.
Last week there was no wind so i went to a local park shimmied up a tree on a slope. set up a rope swing with handle bar so i could practice my rotations.
You risk a certain confrontation with the crazy ex who by chance is sitting in the rigging area texting, just to head out for 35mins in what could be 10 knots at best!
