Cliff notes of this thread:

1. thread is posted in good humour about kite having struts
2. Rowdy comes in rambo style thinking he is some sort of kite design and research god that knows all there is to know and rips on something as if having tested and evaluated it grouping it with other kites that are not the same when all he has is a picture and an assumption
3. Seabreeze mostly disagrees with his over assumption and a verbal riot persues
4. Said kite designer shows up replying very maturely and politely in rebutal
5. Rowdy back pedals and plays the "cant take a joke" , " can't have an opinion"
6. Seabreeze continues to support designer

And my predicted 7:
7. Rowdy learns his lesson

Note Rowdy that you made it obvious that you didnt like people pulling you up on what you though with how you said "can't have an opinion". Well it is the designers opinion that his design is worth investigating, and you completely ripped on his design and thus his opinion so your only being a hypocrit and showing double standards by not liking that your being ripped on for your own opinion.

That is one of the stupidest things I've read in a while... Even stupider than most things I post.

Lesson about what? He haven't bashed anything without explaining why he don't believe in the design.

Being one of very few readworthy members on seabreeze that always gives good answers he deserve the right to have his opinion. I never heard or read him bash a kite without having a good reason for it.

It's odd that not one poster has made a mention about the board in the pic. ^^^

Hey Rowdy, any comments mate ?

I guess you have probably ridden a similar board to the one in the photo.

And don't get me started on that stupid board!! Things I hate about the board:

1. It's made of wood
2. It rides like a plank of wood (trust me I've ridden similar boards and I know!)
3. It's too long
4. His marketing of the board is horrid
5. It's too wide
6. It's too heavy

Eh, seems he did comment on the board.

Lol [}:)]

I've owned a couple of plastic bags in my time and feel confident in my ability to judge their performance.

Most of them launched and flew better than my LF Havoc, except when they were full of groceries.

And NONE of them had struts! Check mate.

I second that, and my liquid force havoc also folded in half and wouldn't relaunch and it had struts so.........this kite may not even need struts to be better than the havoc

I had an 8m LF Havoc and a mate had a 10m LF Havoc and they are by far the most useless kites (aka plastic bags) I have ever flown. They may as well have been 2 line kites becuase the back lines go slack as soon as its above 14 knots.

Guys I've just got back from testing my new strutless prototype, it sits a bit low in the window but I definitely think I'm on to something here. Please let me know what you think!

I have always wondered how much a back roll kite loop would hurt if you landed on your head/back in the snow.....

I have had bruised arms from getting whipped, surely hard snow would break your neck.

I'm here in South Africa at the moment (Muizenberg) and a certain manufacturer (which I won't name) appear to be testing prototypes of a strutless kite on almost every light wind day. I haven't seen it actually get off the beach and into the water yet, but so far it looks like a total waste of cloth . Even in sub 15knots the canopy is fluttering all over the place.
I personally can't wait till all the noobs are flying strutless plastic bags getting them wrapped up in the waves whilst I'm sitting pretty with a stable, rigid 5 strut design.

To the Boardsports Maui guy: I had been following the strutless kite thread on K.F. but only sort of skimming through, everyone was ultra positive and I wanted to try one. It got boring though because no-one really had any strong opinions. This Rowdy guy loudly bagging on your design was another story. I read his posts several times, laughing. I read all the responses too. Several times, it's a lot more interesting when someone sticks their neck out and has something to say. In the end it only made me more interested in how the kite will perform. That's the reason I like this forum, people are very opinionated and it's more funny this way, I wouldn't take it personally. It sure got me reading about your design. And I really value the tacit dubious posts, it saves me money if I can learn what really works and what doesn't before I shell out the cash for something. I want to try this kite even more now, but I want to know how it flies in all conditions before I buy one. A lighter, cheaper kite with more low end is what I need. It also needs to keep it's shape if it gets into a turbulent lee area up against the cliffs. Make us a kite that does it all and many people will buy it.

In all of those still images I do not see fluttering.

Although the stills show me it doesn't move fast.

An alternative board and an alternative kite -

It makes me think about those smelly bearded hippies who surf fat single fin boards, and whack on a trippy 1970's style wetsuit for extra style, because that makes the board perform better.

These guys are so future driven.

I surf a big fat single fin board and I don't have a smelly beard. Am I doing something wrong?
