^^oh no don't say things behind peoples backs^^
Thanks for all your concern and mis-information. Nothing like a Media/Forum Beat up.
Had a crash 1.9 km off shore. lost my board and some how managed to crash through the bar into my lines. Had lines tangled on lifevest and kite was death looping out to sea. Last time this happened I let the kite go and swam in. Took my 1 hour 40 min to swim in from further. Some how it happened again line was twisted/caught on bar and not much I could do. Once its twisted up and inverted good luck.
This time I held onto my kite to try and save it but kept on looping. Managed to pull the front lines and get into the kite. Was all wrapped up in lines from swimming over them. For some reason the kite did not want to self rescue and kept on falling into the water. So I just sat in it and waited for a mate.
Gps watch said I had moved 300 meters in 10 minutes so I knew in about a hour of drifting I would be back near the shore.
For all concerned I was only 1.9 km offshore, fit and willing to swim in. ** happens some times. I am sorry if I have brought the sport into disrepute.
I was wearing a lifevest, had flare, e-flare (broken from crash) water proof phone in waterproof case, and PLB (epirb). Also had mates watching from close by. Was able to check into facebook and see how Tindr was going. Should have brought lunch or a fishing line.
I have thanked ALL involved and dropped numerous slabs off to all involved in rescue.
The Helicopter flew straight past, then doubled back some 26 minutes after being in the water, gave me the thumbs up, then opened the door and took some photos which you all would have seen. I have better resolution copies if you would like them for the back of your toilet door.
Blokes in the Boat were absolute legends excited about the waves we could catch on the way back in. Once again I thank them and all involved.
They and the crew on shore were more than happy to help and clearly aware I had safety gear with me. Initially I was with two other kiters, but really, there would be not much they could do, I would have needed a piggy back, or a longer leash/rope to get a lift back in a drag myself through the water.

Marker show's where I had stopped being dragged down wind by looping, blue dot but other line is point where met by boat.
I understand the risks and enjoy our sport for the adventure and opportunity it provides. As some of you know I work for a Emergency Service and have been with them as boat crew for the past two years. My brother is a rescue swimmer with another Rescue helicopter service, my family are fishermen and very experienced sailors, I go off shore regularly. I understand and Accept the risks involved in the sport. The only thing I was lacking Saturday was some flippers and snorkel to make my way back home. Shark shield is just another thing to break or loose. I have new gear that I check regularly and always help other water users be it kiters or boats drifting through the bay if they are ok.
I was at Sets on the beach Sunday eating a million pills after juicing all week, so missed out kiting in a no kiting zone Sunday sorry Inderloop.
Some times things just go wrong. I was never stressed or concerned. Its a great story. I have thanked all services involved and was not using resources that were needed elsewhere.
If you see me out and about, come and say hi, I am more than happy to appologise for it, give you a beer and take/share some advise for the future. If you would like to play where's wally and post my daily location great - I'll be at Safety bay - teaching four mates with a North Rhino today.
