Thanks for the warm, inviting vibe. Considering you were all just sitting on the beach and playing with your kites, you guys have no right. I'm happy to name and shame but you know who you are and need to get over yourselves.
When some random form overseas comes over and over-reacts, don't cry over teeth......

Thats unfortunate! Is it really necessary to hurl abuse at people just for the sake of it? The guy in question is a super friendly and warm personality which I doubt any of you guys are. Think about it.

Not here to punch out, or enforce anything. My comment is trying to reinforce that kitesurfing is a friendly sport that can easily be spoilt by localism and atTITude. I would hate in 5 years time to be talking about the good old days, but now everywhere is like a good surf spot or some windsurfing areas.
Keep the stoke in the sport, welcome guys that are unfamiliar with an area, you might travel one day!
P.S. Some of the most welcoming, hard core kiters who go out in anything are the bunbury-australind boys......legends!

Ask Dan n PJ what happened to their shark bay fishing holiday... Too windy stay in Geraldton

Haha that's funny! I didn't even go over the the offshore side today, considering there was barely enough wind to go upwind (with my 9m), not to mention practicing unhooked moves, and way more crowded on the offshore side I happily stayed on my side. I will gladly kite that side as soon as the winds better though and I don't care if some of the "locals" down there bag the **** out of me. I know I might not be the most popular guy here, or even on the beach but at least I know how to behave myself on the beach, I'm friendly and helpfull and don't abuse people. I've had this many many times with the "locals" being the tough guys and thinking they own the place. Why? Because you've been there longer? So? In Spain, France/Germany/Italy (skiing/snowboarding) you can get the same reactions at some spots.. Get over yourselves it's never gonna be like "back in the day" when you had the place for youselves and you could strutt your stuff, that's just reality guys.

Go overseas and get treated the same way and we'll see how tough you are Although I doubt that you will be treated that way, see most guys everywhere I've kited are actually mature enough to behave

Might add I don't know half of you guys down there, if any, and I have personally not had any problems with you (although I'm sure I will after this, hehe), but when I hear things like this it's just sad.. We are all in the sport together and should look after eachother. Especially when you hear how some windsurfers behave up north, trashing kites and beating kiters up.. For what? For enjoying themselves in the water at "their" spots Very sad..

Hehe... love that.. as soon as someone objects or has a problem with something it's always "it was a joke" I like the "if u rode there u would understand" too.. What is there to understand? Certain unspoken rules you have to comply with to be able to ride there? If so, please, enlighten us! Certain clothes/kites/moves/antics that are off limits/forbidden? I'm curious!

seems the "best and most influential riders crew" @ beach 1 Woodies are having their same old problems coming back to haunt them...

time and time again this same topic comes up on this forum...

So guys get to write a sign get it checked by the ELDERS like John @ SOS AND/OR Graham Baker @ CHOICE that clearly states how much of a risk it is to kite Bch 1 in a seabreeze... goto Fremantle Signs near Leighton beach get it made up and put it at the entry to beach 2 at the end of the car park...
Then if you see a noob getting ready to F%&k everyones day let them know in a friendly way that Beach 1&2 are a safer option (No sharks there either, it's too shallow ;)...)

also seems to be a few mentions that these Noobs are riding XBOW... Excuse my lack of local knowledge but who sells them and where do they provide their lessons? There was a shop doing radio advertising on like 96.1 fm with daily wind reports etc followed by an add for their company (Sorry forgot the name/ or what they sell)the last few summers i have been in Oz... Maybe this company is selling gear to the public sans lessons? Maybe not just an inquiry, not a dig at the company, not even sure they sell XBOW! they gave a good wind report!!

whilst we're on the topic of Woodies, Sorry to hear about that guys custom board that was pinched... hope it's returned to you real soon!

hope the "best and most influential riders crew" can get this sorted soon so they don't have to spend so much time on this forum being angry!!

Carbine you sound a little aloof here? The point is people will see this joking around as intimidation. The guy who was getting a hard time yesterday told me that he was copping it on the offshore side and moved to the onshore side to avoid it.

Used to see that same "joke" attitude by a group of hardcore riders at many premier surf beaches. When theres 3-4 guys "joking" at one, thats intimidation or " verbal bullying".
Your mouths are cashing cheques you bodies can't carry.
Do a poll on who the "cool" kiters are: Dan, Damo, Nick, Puppet,(insert your name here???). They are cool because they always help anyone, are always friendly, and make people feel good about themselves, not make yourself feel good about you.
Some of the guys I used to train (not in kitesurfing) would have no hesitation in taking on 3-4 guys on the beach, ESPECIALLY WHEN these supposed locals are EX-PAT POMS!

What the? Does that really happen?! Mind you it won't keep me away, just need to learn how to fight really really well.
But seriously, thats rediculous. Karma will get them back, you wait and see.

My Mum says I'm cool.

Saw you spruce struggling on your 9m, would have had a better chance if you took those commitment boots off. Only thing that was bad yesterday was that dog that was just swimming around barking constantly in the middle of the ocean. Not only is the barking annoying but theres nasty crap on the bottom, dangerous for your dog.

Oh yeah and Carbine rescued my kite so its not like he doesnt help anyone.

kitting is more and more like localized surfing breaks... you paddle out at a normal spot your sweet your not going to get hassled if you do it right.... you paddle out at a localized spot your getting hassled regardless...

mabey some people where a little harsh on that guy.

its not like this every where you go i also kite Leighton and help people out when they need it and give advise is asked or i think they want some.

you cant compare astralind to woody's they have way way way way way way way more space than us!

dave...... come on dude ease up a bit, carbs one of your mates to!

and yeh they are really nice guys but we will see how helpful they are this season when woodys turns into back role city and no one has any room at all!

see this is why i love where i kite it is a 20min ride up wind to some of the best flat water in wa and all of were we kite it the same flatness of woodies but with 10 maybe 15 kiters

rockwall australind is an awesome spot. its flatter than woodies.

Dawn Patrol: I haven't experianced it myself, but I had a mate go up there last year and was harrased on the beach by windsurfers with screwdrivers that were gonna rip their kites.. Also they took down the kiters licenceplate numbers and said they were gonna trash them later that night... Look in the forum and you'll find similar stories about windsurfers knocking kiters over and stuff...

and kenta. Flatter than woodies offshore? I actually don't think that's physically possible mate, not if there's wind involved and there usually is when we're talking kitesurfing

if a newbie doesn't know not to ride offshore winds before he can ride at all he either didn't get lessons or learned from someone who shoudn't be giving lessons !! natrual selections will solve both problems !

davespruce, have you kited rockwall australind?

judging from your comment i guess not. come and see for yourself. if you kite very close to the rockwall there isnt even ripples at times. you can see your reflection in the water, especially when the breeze just kicks in and the water isnt that stirred yet. the waters just off the rockwall seems almost stagnant.

rockwall is definately flatter than woodies. alot smellier too.
woodies is a better spot tho. im not saying rockwall is better just because its flatter. there are many things to consider before rating a spot, not just the water state.
