I heard that the wind window was 15-25. outside of this and the race is postponed/delayed/cancelled.

hence why they chose to postpone on the 3rd.

could be wrong though.

race should go on regardless, look at Wedge this wasn't put off and the wind was ****ty.
15knots is plenty, will weed out the skilled riders from the rest,

Looks like it could work, I reckon I'd be on my 17 if I was going to be there though.

If you race at 230pm choose a larger kite - from my experience it is 100% better to be over powered coming into Leightons rather then expecting the wind to pick up as the day goes on...

Last year I made this mistake, and didn't see the cloud come in over gauge roads once I'd been out there around the 30min mark. Needless to say everyone was telling me use your 9m and once that cloud came in a killed the wind I was struggling to stay up wind. Wish I had gone with my gut and just ridden 12m with my 128tt, D'oh. Lesson learnt - you will only be on the water for a few minutes so even if it does pick up your finished and there is someone to catch your kite - go large and go fast

What kind of entertainment can I expect at Leighton on sunday? I'm considering going out there and having a look but if the wind is blasting... maybe I should just go out kiting myself somewhere else hey

They may get sea sick, true.

But from a kiters perspective if you cant ride 30knots then you shouldnt really be in the race.

A word of advice if your using a twin tip, move your foot straps closer so you get greater flex out of your TT ends. Less chance of catching ocean swell.

I moved my pads further apart due to a rusted bolt and found landing jumps more comfortable, however I caught swell more often on semi fast runs.

Are you basing this experience from the one day last year though?
I also went with a 9 last year expecting the wind to pick up and was struggling for the last couple of K's.
I have done the crossing hundreds of times in a boat though and if you look at the averages throughout the summer you will see that generally the wind increases quite considerably throughout the afternoon.
Think carefully before going too large IMO.

I guess girls just tend to like it large haha

Bags are packed as well. Surfboard and Twin tip, 10.5 and a 16m kite should do the trick. Off to the terminal to drop the gear off.
