I know this subject comes a close 4th to the big 3 no no topics so hopefully it won't get shut down but i'm looking for a light beer or cider around 2.5-3% that is flavoursome and low carb (gotta do something about the gut excercise is not enough. I like to drink beer and cider and i recently saw a show on prohibition in the US that beer was drunk by and recommended to Americans any time of the day back in the 18th and 19th centuries and that spirits and high alcohol beers stuffed the whole system up ,apparently America was reasonably peaceful when mid strength beer was drunk by everyone for breakfast lunch and dinner until hard liquor which turned up not long before the civil war and the push westward which was also a very violent time ).
My fave is Coopers mild and other reviewers give it a good score too carbs and kj are a bit down on sparkling and pale but i'd like to get less than 1 g per 100 ml .i have tried Big head no carb but its a bit exy particularly only being 330 ml .I have googled this but do you people have Any other ideas ?

Yes yes, this topic is perfect. This is exactly the type of conversations that are encouraged on Seabreeze.
The quality and substance of this particular topic will have real meaning with some people, and less with others.

Not wrong. And 'Passion Pop' flew the flag in the 80's.

Beer may not be the only problem. What you eat whilst consuming beer or shortly after is a big contribution to the beer belly. Nuts, kababs etc
Maybe it's just middle age spread.

You're better off sticking with a quality beer like vale ale or pintail ale...just don't quaff heaps of it.

Have had quite a few discussions with some mates about trying to brew a quality, full-flavoured mid to light beer.

I made a disturbing discovery the other day.

There's a big grog wholesaler near me that sells booze at pretty (very) good prices and is happy to sell to the public.

But that's not the disturbing bit, I discovered that they have these big crates of loose beers and premixes that have come from broken slabs. You have to put em in a box yourself, and a some of them need a rinse when you get home to get sticky spilled booze from other broken bottles off them, but they let em go for $1 each ($2 for premix spirits)!!

I got myself several cartons of Becks for $24 each (+GST admittedly), and Beam's at $12/6 pack (again, + GST).

So much for trying to drink less!!

I am about half way through a Darwin Stubbie at the moment. Tastes good but the final verdict will depend on the hangover or lack of it tomorrow.

Interesting thing about them is the clever logo on the bottle cap which represents Carlton United Northern Territory (or C. U. N. T. for short).

Good news:

The best beer in Australia is being resurrected.

Eumundi Lager. The Sunshine Coasts best ever product.

Waaaaaayyyy before it was cool to drink natural, preservative free beer in a sea of VB and Tooheys new this beer was a joy to get whacked and have no hangover...... Love it.

The whole low carb beer is BS. Go checkout the labels and read what the difference is. it's a poomfteenth of what you're ingesting. The weighty issue at hand with beer is alcohol content. Either go low alcohol or look at what else you're having with the beer. Mmmm salty fatty snacks. You would be better of looking for low fat snacks.

CMC is right Eumundi was a great beer.

My fav beer is my homebrew Coopers Pale Ale. It's not quite as good as the real one but hell at $20 for 2&1/2 cases.
