Mozzila just makes browsers and email software, it's not making operating systems.

What was that system my mate goes on about all the time, no not mac um.......

I know that google is working on a new OS but it's miles away from reality yet.
The problem with Linux base operating systems is that not a lot of program developers are working on them and almost every new software comes on MS first and you can simply find any utility for MS while it's not as easy on Linux.

I personally will stock to my XP till new computer games stop supporting it.

I've had Windows 7 for a good 3 Months now, and I must say this is Microsoft's best operating system yet, that said, if you're currently on Windows XP, upgrading could be a headache. For Vista users, it's hassle-free.

Just had a chat with a guy in IT, reckons that W7 is fast and (so far) hassle free...maybe they got this one right?

WHY?

Had no reason to when Vista came out and still have no reason to regret that.

No-one likes to be the guinea pig.

I've heard there is home networking/sharing issues when all machines arn't running W7.
So I'm a little reluctant as my media centre runs on Linux.

Been running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit for the last couple of weeks and I love it. Heaps faster and seems to be pretty stable.

Best of all you can install it onto another hard drive by booting up with your old OS, run install disc and use 'custom install' to select what drive you want to install the new OS on to. This means that you can have a dual boot system just in case the new OS has issues with some older programs. Thankfully all my programs have run fine under Win 7 - even some of the bigger games.

I have a few systems networked and there are no issues so far but I think that you need Ultimate to have all the networking functions.

Also Adobe CS4 runs well with it. Seems to be a little faster than with XP.

I'm running an evaluation copy, and unfortunately i'll have to re-install during March sometime, but at least it gives me a heads up...

any benefit going 64, rather than 32, like is the speed heaps faster or just noticeably faster? most of my software likes 32

Are they going to give current Vista owners a peace deal to up grade? I'm running Vista at home and it sucks!

I got 4gb ram and vista 32 ultimate, some funny quirky things go on with it, like wont cut and paste sometimes, usually when your in a hurry, icons freeze and mouse cant click on them and i thought it was the virus software. a reboot sorts it but lets hope windows 7 can sort it better

I think i'll upgrade one computer first then the second one if alls good.

Got CS4 installed and running on vista 32 last night after having massive dramas with it all day. A lot of mucking around, chasing clean-up programs, but it has done the trick. If you want to no more, let me know!

windows 7 = FAIL.

I'm waiting for the first service pack to come out before I upgrade.

Then again by that time I'm hoping to up-grade the laptop, which might end up being a tower (so much for a new 14m).
