going to the drive-in with your oldies was way cool.
waiting for the TV to warm up.
days when you went outdoors with your friends all day and came home when the lights came on.
Choo Choo bars were 2c and Paddle Pops were 5c.
southerly busters on Sydneys northern beaches bought all the crap from North Head sewerage plant onto your beach.
thinking a Bombora Tri-fin was the hottest thing around.

Me too!
And it wasn't "politically uncorrect" to choose who was "it" by going "eeeny meeeny miiiny mo, catch a n...er by the toe,.....". (it's "tigger" these days). Mind you the old one was pretty bad when you think about it.

... you could see INXS playing at a pub.
...Paul Kelly did free lunchtime gigs at Uni.
...I could eat a whole large Capricciosa at 10:00pm and not still be digesting it the following morning.
...all my mates were taller than me.
...they taunted ME about losing my hair. (Justice comes to those who wait)
...you used to get 2 jelly frogs for 1 cent, potato cakes (scallops) were 2 cents each, and Wagon Wheels were actually a decent size.
...no-one had allergies, but there was a kid at school who had really skinny legs because he had had polio
..I used to service my car (the HR - the car of the future)
... we used to fry ourselves on the hot concrete after swimming in the neighbours pool, without sunscreen
... you couldn't sleep that night because of the pain
... skin would peel off in sheets a few days later
... the year 2000 seemed so far in the future.

I remember when I filed all the little studs off my BMX pedals so I could ride it barefoot. Not only do I wear shoes now but I can only wear the shoes that go with the pedals.

Oh and Rellie, he's talking about ****.

when I had a foreskin ,
now it seems every buggers` got one .

when chucking a couple of litres of whale oil out the
back of the boat to stir up the gardies was no big deal .

when marron season went for half a year ... legally .

buying a new bombora XIT .

buying a new naish two line kite , which delaminated after a couple of weeks .

spending endless hours on windy weekends fixing bladders on my blacktip kites .

when shackling yourself to your kite was fashionable .

I REMEMBER WHEN THERE WAS A FISHING FORUM .

i also remember it`s destruction

Now that's a shock. Even kiting is getting old.

... my biggest concern in my life was how I would wear my hair to school (Primary School and the 90's)
... Braces totally weren't cool, but like THE BIFF, I'm bringing it back!!! [}:)]
... kites were little diamond shapes I would make with paper, sticks and a trail with string... oh how they developed into my biggest dream! [}:)]

haa good topic rellie.... Been missing your contribution to my posts lately

Ha ha - I see from todays profile pic your hair is still a concern Liz! Would you like me to mail you some hair care tips so you can have a rockin 'do' like mine?

Maybe go a bit easier with the make up next time too hun?

When big wheels (back in a big way) ruled the streets..

When a 20c bag of lollies meant several choices and around 10 minutes of pondering as to what actually made it into the bag... and also days of aggravation for ya folks..

When old fashioned skateboards were wooden (like my 'surfer sam') and new fangled ones were fibreglass and sharp as all kn hell when the tail got worn down!!

When Nintendo released a super cool dual screen Donkey Kong.. that looked just like a modern DS in shape (funnily enough). I swear my thumbs have never fitted quite right since a better off mate got the dual screen DK in primary skool

I remember when NSW won the State of Origin series so many years running that the media types were questioning whether it was worth having any more or should just get abandoned.

Ha ha - braces, n bringin em back like the biff.. nice one

I think Co Co Channel always was on the money and subscribed to less is more every time.

Actuall I always liked her quote (which i will no doubt misquote here) "A woman should always get dressed to go out, complete with accessories, then take at least 2 items off." Have treid to impress the importance of that number when at the beach with lovelies!! Sadly to little or no avail..

.....getting a lift on dad's new (pre-loved) motorbike when I was 7 - (70's), around the neighbourhood wearing nothing but shorts, thinking I was the coolest kid.

.....getting my first bike....an old malvern-star frame that dad found at the tip, and painted up for me! (couldn't ride it for a couple of years, it was an adult-size frame.....I was about 9)

.....sneaking a peak at 'Abigail' nude on the telly through my pre-pubescent years!

-I remember when we would turn our push bikes into motor bikes by clothes pegging a footy card into the back spokes..... Then peddling our absolute ar#@s off, convinced we were going twice as fast as ever before.

-I remember when Prince Planet and Marine Boy ruled the cartoon super hero world

-I remember being late for my under 10's footy match every Sunday 'cos I just had to see Jack Little "roll that film" of the Wrestling from Festival Hall the night before.
Spiros Arion, Brute Bernard, Bulldog Brower, Mario Milano and the gang, pretending to hammer the crap out of each other. - had this 9 year old convinced !
