I must admit I was a bit disappointed with it when I first got it, it lacked a lot of what I would call basic features I had gotten used to with my iPhone. The upgrades helped significantly, and I also developer unlocked mine which has enabled me to load 'unofficial' apps, like what you can get from iPhone's Cydia. The platform is less than two years old, so it's early days yet.
One thing I am getting quite used to is any app being able to display updating information on the home screen (or being Windows - 'Start'), with the Live Tiles.
