Cat V's Reo
Hi all.
Does the 2013 Reo have a similar power to a 2013 Cat? Or would a 12m Reo be more similar to a 10m Cat?
Cheers

What is a big wave?
So....
What is a big wave?
Whats your ideal wave size?
How do you measure waves? I measure in head heights.
here's my view.
Up to shoulder high Small.
Head to double head Medium.
double to tripple head BIG
tripple + monster
My ideal wave is probably 1 to 1.5 head. Double head gets pretty ring puckering.
Anything above double head is pretty terrifying.....

the "How to survive winter storms" thread
Ok boys. I thought is was apt to start a discussion about surviving those storm sessions.
So the forecast calls solid 20-40 knots, squalls, massive seas. Here's what I do.
check several forecast web sites.
check live wind readings on the day.
check rain radar and cross reference live wind data to hopefully see the wind spike when a squall goes through.
arrive at the beach. check actual conditions at the beach.
select a kite which has a wind range between max lull and max gust of the day.
eyeball the sea to spot the best riding spot.
rig up and launch.
Cruise around for a few mins to get the feel of the wind/waves. then let it loose and go for it.
Spot an incoming squall. Decide are the squalls coming through ridable? If not land with plenty of time to spare before the squall arrives. if yes then head out to sea a bit when a squall hits to get a safety buffer.
What advice do you have?. Add you experience here.

What was your best/most memorable moment?
So this is my second season...
In the first season I was mainly just f'ing around trying to waterstart, trying to stay upwind, freaking out about getting in the way of other people and doing the walk of shame over and over again. I loved it, learned a lot but man it was frustrating at times.
Now in my second season in the last 2 weeks I have progressed immensely and last friday I must have had the best session so far. I was boosting (quite) high, riding toeside, landed my first few backrolls and even managed to do a tail grab!
I was absolutely stoked, it was an amazing feeling! I'm totally pumped and ready for the next sea breeze to come in and soar through the sky!
This was by far my most memorable and most amazing kiting moment.. Whats yours? Be interested to hear your stories!
