Was chatting to Dave Basher today in the water about how our waves in SA are weak and fat so in a LB you need something that will give you speed and glide on the wave.

What do you think you need in a longboard to achieve this??

tonight, I can't escape the thoughts of a 9'6 pintail single fin, thick redwood stringer, and clear glass, or really faint milk tint just to keep the board looking sweet for years to come.

so i am in the process of getting a custom Mctavish Noosa 66 board made, yes as the title states it is going to be 12ft yes 12.

i currently own a 9'1 - 9'6 - 10'4 and 11ft board so i am no stranger to big boards.

i want to make the glassing heavy real heavy but i have never felt a board anywhere near the specs im looking at

the heaviest glassing option available to me is

6oz + 2x 8 oz with a 8 or 6oz deck patch on the deck, 8oz and 6oz underneath

the board also will have a 1inch redwood cedar stringer.

now i am a big guy im 6'6 and 115kgs im not afraid of the board being heavy but im starting to wonder if this board will be stupidly heavy even for a strong guy like myself.

so i suppose my question is has anyone ever felt/owned a board with this type of glassing, any opinions appreciated thanks
