Anything can go fast in the right conditions or when it's really windy. I once took my quad wave board in 35+ knots winds, and it hit 29 kts speed without pushing too hard, although it was probably close to it's max speed due to the fins. I regularly use that board in a thruster setup (obviously with single back strap) and I could probably go over 30 kts if I'd have the guts. Gets quite choppy here.

I've been wearing boots for more than 15 years now as I kept injuring my feet without them.
First of all, they shouldn't get stuck so what you experience is not because of boots specifically, but your particular setup/combi.
What I noticed is some boots have straps to tighten them on the bit that goes in the foot straps. Cut them off if you can cleanly do so, or find boots without straps.

It's always a good idea to make your straps bigger so your feet can come out, but on freeride gear I have mine pretty tight with no issues at all. I'm using Prolimit boots for what it's worth. Been trying others over the years but some do really suck, particularly the ones with straps are dangerous for windsurfing imo.

Noticed with the new site, when I click the username/time of last post, it doesn't scroll to the last page and post anymore. On the old site, it linked to the last post but now it just links to the first post on the first page. Circled the place below.

I'd find the rental centres and pick those spots so you don't have to drag gear around and have the right gear (either fin or foil) for the conditions. It's probably worth the money and not even that expensive although long time since I've rented in Europe.
There might not be many rental options inland though so you can still bring some if you're really keen to sail in those locations.
Enjoy!

Exactly, surely Polakow influenced the shape of that board. Just found a photo with the size of the 85, it's 224.7x57.3 cm. Love the accuracy with those numbers lol. That's quite a bit shorter but that's probably due to the tail. The 2016-2018 83 (closest size) had a 56.5 cm width, so not that far off.

The outline should be pretty accurate, at least for the JP. I imagine they take the CADs but it's obviously 2D only. Anyway, in the video it looks very similar. At least narrow and long but the volume distribution can be different.
Shame there's no size details on the website apart from litres.

Expect the Polakow is faster than the other wave boards in their Goya and Quatro range. It looks almost identical to the good old Radical Thruster Quads that Polakow was using a decade ago, before JP changed to more modern shapes, what's new! I recognised the shape and only the tail seems different. As someone who is still using the Radical Thruster Quads (in a thruster setup), I'd be keen to trial these boards. I think they might feel very similar.
Here's the shape overlay, you barely see the JP board except for the tail because they are nearly identical 😂 I can't easily do the reverse but you can find the 2018 JP catalog online if you'd want to try it.

Look at what Kai Lenny is doing, he's been experimenting with this. Just try it and let us know how it felt! It might work although large side fins might feel draggy.

It's best not to ask about toe in, unless you want to open a can of worms. Search these forums for all you need to know about that topic, and much more.

No issues here with the exact same watch. Been using it for 2.5 years and still going strong. That said, it's not a great watch and wouldn't recommend it. I've posted details earlier in another topic.

It's a great warranty policy though. Much better than sending it back, waiting for weeks, and potentially getting a refurbished watch back.

Interesting. Did the band suddenly give way, or did it happen during a crash or a gybe?
It really doesn't take much for these straps to come undone. If something catches the loose end of the band, it can easily be pulled open. Even with the two retaining loops on my Garmin watch, I've had the strap pulled right out of them and left hanging on my wrist by just the buckle. I was very lucky not to lose it.
I generally wear a long-sleeve wetsuit or rashie over my watch to prevent this from happening. If you search through these forums, you will also see that people have made custom covers out of old neoprene because losing watches in the water is not uncommon.
I don't think this would be covered under a warranty claim. In most of these situations, the band doesn't actually have a manufacturing defect or break I suspect. It simply gets pulled open or the pins give out under force.

Don't tell anyone! Before we know it this site becomes more popular than BOM and it's overloaded.
Great addition!

Just provide the feedback to the team! Doesn't take longer than complaining here. There's a feedback button or you can drop it in www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/General/Time-for-a-forum-upgrade-?page=3

Now's your chance!
Fwiw I've submitted feedback on a few occasions and most of it has been incorporated in the new version, so this is not a BOM redesign;)

It will feel a bit softer if you have an extension long enough. Masts don't take up much space so I'd take both. As a bonus, you have a spare.

Guess that's the million dollar question, hard to predict. Drone snapshots of recent changes might give some indication, but nature does what it does best. Let's see what it has in store for us...

Very interesting podcast with more details on the plan with 3Di and the traditional race sails North is using this season.

Overlapping gear, no problem! I like it from a redundancy aspect. It's not easy to get a new replacement board in Australia when you break something, so having spares or alternatives in the same category is great.

I've got two identical wave boards, feels great when I don't have to worry about breaking one. Both purchased second hand, very cheap.

Hard to tell based on the image, but you might want to make sure it's actually deep tuttle and not regular tuttle box. In the photo, it looks a bit like regular.

Interesting re Blast. Last time I sailed it quite a couple of years ago, it felt very wide. As a lighter sailor, I prefer narrower shapes but combining it with a big sail might help.

I totally agree with you , however I have winged for around 6 years quite consistently to a good level ,and now I'm kinda board with it unless there's waves or a big swell running.
In the early days of winging I nearly packed up windsurfing altogether.

Yeah, I can see that it might get boring after a while. I'm not at the level yet, but would definitely take it into the swell.

Still nothing beats the fin so as soon as it's 18+ kts, I'll be windsurfing.

I'm similar weight to you. I used to use a Fox 95L with a 5.5 as my light wind setup in 15-18 kts. I still didn't enjoy it, the board feels too big and probably needs a bigger sail which I don't want to use.

I've stopped using it and now a 86L 3S with a 5.0 is my biggest setup. I can get going in 17 kts as long as there are some stronger gusts and the seaweed isn't too bad.

You probably don't want to hear it, but when it's lighter than that, instead of killing my back with heavy gear, I've learnt to wing foil and it's brilliant in light conditions. Easy on the body and you basically need very little wind.

Exactly that! Always bring all your gear to the beach. Ok, I've got too much gear, but at least bring small, medium, large board, and all sails that go with those boards. Then your foil if you're into that.

Instead of measuring, which can be useful, I'm thinking of doing some experimentation. In our local gang, there's a few different sail brands being used. It'd be fun to swap masts around, sharing experiences with what feels good and bad.

I've got a fair bit of different brand rdm 400 masts laying around, so we could all try the normal mast, then two different brands, just to feel how much it can affect the sail. Who knows we find a golden combo 🤣

I think brands should be more explicit about mast changes. Maybe give them an iteration number so that we know that a sail from the 2025 range for instance, has been designed on mast iteration X. The best we can do now is buy the sail and mast at the same time.

Anyway, at this point I'd consider sail and mast a set. Another brand's mast is a no for me (even though it might work as mentioned above).

We've got plenty of influencers in our sport now, they should raise awareness and educated folks about how a mast relates to the sail.

There's been many similar discussions here. The only way to find out is trying it. It might or might not work, generally not ideal. Best to get the recommended mast (same brand) if you can as the sails have been designed and tested on that mast.

The risks have become so high that you don't even have to go out on the water to be at risk. You're in imminent danger even just standing next to a river or pond or any body of water.

This is just plain nonsense. Do you even believe this yourself? Are you paid or otherwise rewarded to advertise for this product?

Hahaha, I think it's safe to assume that any turbulence or friction generated by the screws has been incorporated into the design and optimised during the testing. It probably won't harm to cover if that gives you piece of mind, but it might not result in any meaningful improvements.

Have a look at the vast amount of exposed screws at a commercial airplane. I'm sure they would be covered if that could save fuel.

Yeah, I didn't say that everyone does this. At least in the PWA slalom, the top guys do. There's no Bjorns or Robbys at the moment, I'm sure they could win on every board.
