wow that was a fun afternoon. swapped a lot of the junk in my man cave for a jar of honey, and listened to yachty's very interesting stories.

Just a preference from me. This is what I see.
The time is only readable if I halve the distance to the screen and squint, just making the font normal black would help.
I doubt I'm the only one that's interested in how long ago the last post happened.

How's this?

That's much better thanks!

That's a buzz!!!
I don't think I'd achieve that with only 17kts going in.
It's much easier going faster, I prefer at least mid 20s.

May not be mountains, but you're riding mountain bikes on steep bush tracks.

Here in Mandurah we have a nice windsurfing community, slappers, foils and wings. flat water on the estuary and occasionally smooth if the weed is right, for those doing speed sailing.
Waves on the ocean, with decent down the line side shore conditions.

These pics are a few km apart liptons on the estuary and Avalon on the ocean. Something for every body here.

No snow of course, but mountain biking has become a bit of a thing, paddling whatever on the estuary.

Geraldton has better wind than here, stronger and a longer season, no real speed strip, but some amazing bump and jump venues, and down the line waves.

If you're into bigish waves Margaret River is often over mast high

There is a bit of a culture difference here though, we tend to knock down tall poppies, we don't like braggers, or people big noting themselves.

Thanks nudie, I would have been in that a couple of months ago but I've found an alternative.

I have one, but it's a long way to Victoria, and it would be a challenge, the sail has split inside the luff sleeve just below the boom

Yes, nice one, does it have weed to get it really smooth?

yes, and sheet out if you're getting pulled over the front. If it's sticky the shift you weight back. It's subtle sound s like you're going to extremes

OK testing this.
Firstly pasting a pic into this page, Laurie says pic was too big, so I'll halve it.

now hit post.
edit, yep so that works with a medium size image, lets try making it full page.

so that's 900 X 622.
The one that crashed the site was 1000, my normal scale down size, so lets try 950 and see what happens.

Now I just have to try 1000 again

So weird, that's the same size that crashed the site before.
Don't know what you've done Laurie, but it's working great now. I didn't have to use the crash recover feature.

Oh yes this is about 2009, I have the first GPSTC T shirt on. Wish I could still wave sail like this. But 81 is a lot different to 64

looks like a lot of weight on the 2 cam

yes, there's not much seam shape, so the cams are doing a lot of the work, but it still rotates fine.

OK I'm back on the old site so I'll have another go.
Here's the sail on the loft 400 RDM Downhaul at +3 outhaul on -2, sail very hard to rotate.

Then I rigged it on a KA 370 RDM and a Patrick 370 RDM, couldn't see any difference between them, both set to spec, gave right downhaul and outhaul.
It needed a moderate pump to rotate in zero wind.

Now that wasn't so hard was it?????

thanks Tardy, but it's more complicated than that.
First attempt failed because I just pasted the pics straight onto the page, and it crashed the site loosing my post. 2nd at tempt failed when I edited my first post, about 4hrs later. it said some thing like, post too old.
I spat the dummy, because I'd spent ages on it, all gone up in smoke with no result.
A direct picture paste attempt into the old site, did nothing, so then you remember you have to go through the process of saving the pic and navigating to it.
Surely it would be much better, when trying to edit a post to be told at the start that the post is too old to edit, start a new one?
So I'm still a bit miffed I'm afraid.
I know Laurie is trying to get this right and there was a long beta phase, but this didn't happen then.

Picked up Dave's 5.0 today, tried to rig it on the 370mast, but it needs a huge extension, that I don't have.
I rigged it on Waricle's 4.0, and it fits fine, but I don't think it's ideal, I'm going to borrow his long extender and see if there any difference.
Pics to follow.

I've seen Stropo do a running jump on. Maree does a semi water start, Elmo and few do a full water start. It's about getting a bit of speed up before the sail is fully into the wind.
What do I do??? Sheet out I think ,as I step on, gradually sheet in as I pick up speed.

I had the 5.6 out in light wind with a loft 4.0 RDM, worked a treat, light and effortless once planning. So bottom end is great just need some stronger wind to test the top end.

mast foot pressure is a way of controlling board trim, too much pushes nose down too little and you tail walk. It's not only about riders weight.

agreed, I won't be going to Albany until it's sorted. just short local trips. All non windsurfing travel is in the electric car powered by our solar panels.

jn1 said..decrepit: My 5WAVE has Chinese symbols on the id tag. I'm pretty sure I saw a Made in China tag on it once (although, I can't find it now). I recommend ringing Mark from Surfsail. He is always very helpful. If he can't help, then he will pass you onto Patrik, who are also very responsive and helpful.

Yep beat you to it, there's a Patrick video that takes you to the Chinese factory.
I rang Mark, and he assures me trump's disruption won't change anything, and my new 5.0 will be in the next session's shipment.

I'm trying to order a Patrick GT3, but I'm now wondering if increased transport problems will affect it's availability or price.
Anybody know where Patricks are made and sent from?

Today I borrowed Waricles Loft 100% RDM.
Doesn't look much different and the gap at the clue is still the same.
