I do not use the supplied bag. I roll my wings to the centre strut and stuff my gear into tubes similar to original V1 duotones. I leave booms attached.

I had yesterday a few runs with the Slick 5m and comparing it with the 5m SMIK i have myself.
first thing you notice is that it feels solid. Coming from a windsurf background it felt really like an full cambered race sail without loose leech being by far the stiffest feeling wing I tried so far.
2th thing is the boom. I owned 2 echo,s and i,m not a fan of them but with the Slick the (aloy) boom is way better connected and really feels like an integral part of the wing instead of the floppy connection on the Echo.
3th: the power. Wow just wow! it has a lot of grunt, way more as my Smik 5m and it is fast while still feeling compact and very manageable.
Its hard to guess but the 5m Slick felt like an 0.7/0.8 size up over my Smik 5m.
While the 5m Smik was powered up but perfect, I think I would have been better of with the slick in a 4m size.
I,m Pretty sure that with the Slick you can go 0.5-1m down on most wings, and with the compact shape its an very interesting biggest wing.... not sure If i would like it in lets say a 4m because I prefer a softer feel. to keep it in the windsurf: rather a supple and soft wavesail as a cambered racesail, but when you looking for power and precision, here it is!

to ad just 1 gripe: imo the front handle is rather small and harder to grab because of the bigger front tube you have to pass by.

I'm on the prowl for a light wind weapon...

For those who have ridden the Slick 6.5 & 7m - how does the wingspan compare to the unit or similar...?

I'm hearing the Slick is lightweight as well - is that a fairly accurate comment?

I have the 7m Edge and 7m Slick....

The slick is still wide but they desiged the wing tip to bounce of the water and not drag.

The slick feels much lighter than the edge.

The slick flies better than the edge.

The slick just seems to grab the air and not lose it when you pump.

Compared to the Echo the Slick has: lower aspect ratio; more tension in the canopy; more control; more stable; more power; better boom system and so on. I like the Echo so the Slick should be very nice!

Tried my 5.5 Slick today, and your description is pretty accurate. Feels light compared to the Echo.

The Unit is pretty much an Echo without the boom, the Slick is a different beast completely. I sailed mine today for a couple of hours, and also lent it to a couple of friends to try, both of whom proceeded to sail around with only one hand on the boom for extended periods of time. It's a very balanced sail, I noticed today that my back arm is not nearly as bent and carries a lot less load than with the Echo. Give it a try, my guess is that you will be impressed.

The pricing on these though . For a 5m, $1550 (with super duper carbon pole 300!), $1350 with the Alu $100 pole. Doesn't even come with a wrist leash($40 extra).

Finally received our first batch of Slick Silver Alloy booms in to WSS Boards this arvo. Nice slim slightly ovalised bit of kit that is as simple as you'd hope. Important to note to be careful about cutting your booms to 125cm as previously posted here as they overall length of the booms is pretty close to bang on 129 cm. Maybe the tubing itself less the plastic mouldings is 125cm?Weight of the Alloy versions was pretty good but will have more time to actually weight them in tomorrow morning. Sam.

Thanks, can confirm 125cm is too short. My cut down SUP paddle shaft (126 cm) popped out of my 5.5 Slick today in a big gust. If you have cut a boom to 125cm you need to extend it to 129cm.

Jumped back on the 3.3 Unit after 4 sessions on the 4.5m Slick. Would be a tough call for me if they did a 4.5m Unit. Really really love the boom but you do notice the weight compared to the Unit.

yeah i own Units and im keen to learn the benefits (never used a boom), if you move to a slick from this direction
ie i am starting to hear a lot of feedback from Echo uses loving less boom in the slick....but maybe they would love the unit even more ie its the reduced boom (now mini) that is appealing? But from the other side - do boomless Unit users love more boom in the slick?!

i guess i will need to demo one (probably unrealisitc here in the UK as i guess stock will be a premium for a while and new sales will take up all th volume)

I changed my 5m Unit for a 4.5m Slick, no regrets. Transitions with the boom are a lot easier, only time I really notice the extra weight is when changing hands from front side to back side on a wave.

The F1 Strike has been getting GREAT reviews, and I have witnessed, how well it goes upwind.

How much better does this wing go upwind than previous versions?

I have an Echo 5.0 and love the boom. As an intermediate I find myself making many, many more transitions without falling in. I also like the better connection to a harness with a boom. But I am getting hassled by my F1 foil amigos to buy a Strike.

Buy one ..... you might discover it is the best wing out there.

I started on the original 4m Naish and struggled to get up unless the wind was 20knots. The first day I got going on the foil I was fortunate enough to punch a hole in the wing and the local shop loaned me their demo 4m duotone. What a revelation that wing was. I was up and running in a few minutes and everything worked better. So I dumped the Naish for Duotone, and then Duotone for Ozone WASP etc etc.
