Surprised no one's mentioned shoulder injuries due to leash attached to wrist, it's not if, it's when.Had a close call myself, but got lucky on severity, however know of other wingers who have gotten some not fun injuries to the shoulder.Just a accident waiting to happen especially in higher winds and waves when your not ready and you get a quicker than you think major pull on your extremity in wrong direction, when not ready for it! I attach wing leash to waist belt harness to torso way better. You'd think industry would get on board and start promoting waist connection or alternate. No perfect way so far to leash board and wing in this sport definitely room for some improvement, hands down think every winger had some leash at some point crossing your head neck area annoying as F+&k but that's another topic

Actually I don't know about you lot, but as a keen and reasonably experienced windsurfer when I wing I'm getting shoulder injuries from falling in (forgetting to let go of the wing when I fall in, I'm practicing Gybes).
Keep doing a "Superman" when I fall in. I swear it extends my arm and the floaty bit stays up and I go down, such that it impinges on my rotator cuff (already had surgery on my right one, my left one is now getting hammered). Self inflicted you could say, even though I use the Boom type wing on a set of Duotone Echos (made my own super light carbon booms, sweet as, not extendible though), have 3 of them for my quiver. Doesn't prevent shoulder injuries though
.
So what should be avoided? In my case avoid hanging onto the boom of the wing, so as to avoid your falling body weight overextending your arm (past the vertical) above your head, impacting your rotator cuff .
