II've heard a couple of times over the last few days that F-One might be close to releasing a new 12 mm mast, possibly with a small change to the SK8 fuselage as well. This is pure beach talk, so I'm not sure how reliable it is.

I'm about to order a new mast and would hate to buy the current one only to find out there's an upgrade coming next month ??
Has anyone heard anything or got more solid info?

also heard some rumours at the beach about a new system and no compatibility between them.
Cannot imagine this to be true but as here in Europe all dealers are putting their stock items of their SK8 foils on sale maybe it could be true...
Does not make any sense to make a sale of their hottest product if there were no major changes?
We will see it anyways.
I personally would not buy anything right now and wait untill the new release for 2026.

This is the video I saw on YouTube

From reading a few threads on FB possibly the mast will slot into the fuse similar to Code etc, also I think there is a new version of the Eagle coming which will be marketed for parawing. These are just things I've seen on FB so I don't know anything for sure.

Wow that's really interesting. I demoed, fell in love with, & ordered an F one setup last year only to cancel it a week later when the media was awash with lost foils & broken screws. I then got a code setup. Looks like the fuse system is identical to the code one.

Found some images on the F-one website of the new range. Looks like it will be available early February in select shops. New surf foil in there as well, called Sushi.

Yes, it is fact- called the 'Titan2' system. But as I am already invested in 4 foils, 2 carbon masts, and 5 mono tails I won't be buying into the new system as I have never, or met anyone who has, snapped a screw or lost a plane using the Titan1 system.
Will be some cheap gear soon!

I'm loving the "Sushi" foil name

I've no complaints about the current system, but I'm relatively light and don't use big high aspect foils. I think the new system is meant to address those use cases.

The new mast's tapered connection is supposed to address carbon wear. The new "fuse" is taller, but not wider, so hopefully it won't increase drag.

I have a new mast on order, together with V3 Sk8 plane and new Eagle plane. Was supposed to be delivered last week, but exactly the gear I ordered was delayed (had I just picked 85cm/850 I wouldve been riding already but I had to be special with 95cm/750...). Will probably be a month or so. Will let you know what I think compared to the 14mm and 16mm masts and previous generation planes. I've heard that the new connection makes a big difference in the feel in terms of stiffness of the connection.

I'm chuckling in my head that they named it as a full on dad joke.

It dices and slices sea life. At least they didn't name it Kamikaze, or Harakiki or Seppuku. (I, for one, prefer lower A/R, thicker foils).

A lot of understandable whining about change of system . but i say better of doing it now to take on more high aspect wings and allow heavy riders to use them. It had to be done at some stage.

Gotta rip that bandaid off sooner or later. I would love to know the inside conversation around if this is the best design from a business, or performance standpoint.

Specifically, was the decision aimed at picking a design with zero warranty issues and sacrificing a bit of performance? When I think of the future of foiling I see little opportunity for the fuse to get slimmer on the code, axis, lift, c9, mortise and tenon design. I thought KT going triple AFS style joint was super forward thinking and expected to see more of that in the future.

To be fair, the new F-One "fuse" is the same width as the old one and is barely taller, so it's already one of the thinnest fuses out there.

I switched to Duotone carbon from Axis (ALU).

My thinking was that the saddle style (f-one titan 1) was a stronger connection. so which is better from an engineering prospective.

I see the Axis carbon mast getting remoulded after wear issues.

I would not be too unhappy, because I doubt that the fuse/mast connection will last.
North and other manufacturers had a lot of issues with hthis type of connection. The forces on the fuselage sidewalls where the mast sits inside of it are very high and the North ones were breaking quite often and they seemed to be thicker.
We will see if the dimensioning was done properly by fone.
Would not buy one now and wait one season for real world experiences

From a mechanical engineering perspective, countersunk screws are not the ideal type of fastener either.
Flat head screws would be more suitable here. For me this does not look too promising

In a way the old Sabfoil mast/fusealge connection was similar. They relied on 2 M6 screws, but the idea was more or less the same - the mast was pulled into the fuselage, not reaching the bottom, and the angle of the side walls ensured tight fit when tightened properly.

The issue with their connection was that somehow just the initial tightening of the screws was never enough for the mast to settle deep enough. After a bit of riding and jumping the mast managed to sink a bit deeper, and at that point the screws needed to be re-tightened. If continuing riding without re-rightening, the screws managed to become even more loose after a while, due to vibrations I guess.

F-one's M8 screws and a bit chunkier connection will likely help with both of these issues.

Yes, I've seen North carbon fuses develop microcracks. But I don't think their mast is tapered though.

I have had Fone for a few seasons and never had an issue with the titan 1 connection system, I'm 95kg riding big foils, I look forward to the discount basement bottom deals to come out and will ride my gear until it's completely dead, With the current/old offerings floating around on the old system there's plenty of froth to last a few more seasons yet.

Ohhh and a new parawing as well ??How does it compare in speed to the 14mm? I'm guessing it's much faster?

Pretty much a straight copy of the Code Foil connection
nothing wrong with it, just saying

Picked these up yesterday. After a conversation with my mate at F-One decided to go for the 14mm UHM over the 12mm UHM. He said in the F-One team the 14mm UHM is the mast of choice for most riders, providing that extra level of stiffness. The 12mm is mostly prefered by lighter weights, downwind specialists or straight line blasters. Basically its not "the 12mm is always better", its specialised tools for specialised uses, with the 14mm providing the most direct feedback and the 12mm providing the best glide.

Given my weight (100kgs/220lbs) and goal (freestyle / aerials & carving in waves in addition to the freefly blasting) I decided to bring home the 14UHM instead of the 12 in the end.

Will let you know how it feels compared to the old 14mm HM and 16mm mast, but putting it together at home and twisting the wings tells me this thing is ROCK solid. The difference is very clearly noticable in both bending and twist stiffness compared to the old 14HM with Titan 1 connection. I do feel a noticable chunk (say 50%?) especially of the bending stiffness gain is in the new Titan 2 connection. Therefore updating a 16mm Titan 1 to a 16mm Titan 2 will probably already be a major noticable improvement.

Is 85 still the preferred mast length for freestyle? (I'm thinking of getting and 80 because it feels more compact in the air and it's also more optimal for more disciplines).

I dont know, last I heard 85 is still the tool of choice for the pros. Do see a lot of people opting for the 80 for multisports use. I havent personally tried an 80 mast, cant imagine the difference is that large honestly.
