I know it doesn't really feel like the season is about to begin as it is still bloody cold, but it is! The first round of this years NSWWA competition begins very soon.

Over the winter the crew from NSWWA have beeen working hard on improving the running of all events and with new a starting systems (Developed and engineered by Dan Berry), a move back towards man on man finals and a heap of other new ideas this years competition format will surely prove to be a winner. Many hours of hard work from the new commitee will undoubtedly see one of the best seasons yet (come on huey!).

In terms of sponsorship a huge thanks has to go out to Neil Pryde who are again sponsoring the entire series. Another big thanks must also go out to Severne/Starboard, Exocet, Wind Surf n Snow and Dirty Dog Eyewear all of these guys have put in some great prizes and offered heaps of support through event sponsorships. There is talk of some great demo gear to be supplied to NSWWA members, will keep you posted.

To combat the problem of no-wind events we will be running a stand up paddle board comp (limited demo boards avaliable), conduct wave sailing coaching seminars, a swap meet at Birubi on Saturday and awesome BBQ's with plenty of Amber Ale.

Membership forms will be sent out early next week, if your not on the nswwa mailing list PM me your details and we will send it to you. Check out the website for more info www.nswwavesailing.org

See you all at Birubi

Wind has been firing up this way so hopefully the planets will align and it will all fall into place on the weekend of the 16th.
I'll try and post a few more wind and wave reports with pictures in the lead up to the event.

The girls at Blue Juice cafe are expecting us to - so there will be hot breakfasts and coffee in the am.
I'm taking 3 boards, 2 surfboards and will find a soccer ball for the "bin game". I have some cool DVD's as well.
cheers

Phhhfffff, Sydney schmidney

It was so windy up here I just rigged a 430 mast with nothing on it.. and then had to come in and change down to a 400 mast. And I reckon I would have 30 kilos on you Dan... easily

Was it an RDM or an SDM you were using today Kev?

Lots of guys were out dusting the cob webs off at Wanda today, cant say the onditions were all that good however, good practice for Birubi though!.

I hate to admit it but my skinny masts are the only 'skinny' part of my kit !
Will try and post some pics of Birubi tomorrow... swell is kickin and the wind is howling outside at the moment... oh and the rain is pelting in.

Hopefully blue skies and more wind tomorrow !

3.5? are you sure you actually own a sail that small? I thought you sailed a 4.2?

... plus you only weight in at about 60 kgs so it doesn't really count...

Mmm mmmmmm

How good does Birubi look today !

Gotta lurve that browny ooz that comes off the rocks when the big swells are battering in !
Helps keep in water visibility down so you can't see what else is in the water [}:)]

thats exactly how bondi used to look in and easterly, before they stated pumping the sewage way off shore. And the brown colour in the water had nothing to do with the rocks.

Said nothing about it being onshore you did just then and I would definately agree. I did say it was shonky crapola wavesailing!

Like the new avatar pic your skin looks quite dark must have been taken after Maui last year, looks like you've lost a bit of weight since then?

its not actually me, but after maui I had put on a heap of weight so I thought I would get a bronze bust made to show my daughter what dady looked like when he was at his physical peak. Back to the sauna with the jockies now, gotta shed the extra kilos before comp season starts.

Thanks for that Krusty, Skeletor was trying to tell me Wanda had been epic. The computer age has made it harder for the overstaters to get away with it.

It was by far the best souwester Ive ever sailed at wanda, easy half mast and solid 30kts. The clown didnt like it as he said he was sooo over powered ( funny that as he had a smaller sail than me and about 40kgs on me) I think he kept getting distracted by the gig plate of cupcakes he had sitting in the car.
but to clarify, it was epic and the following day was rubbish. end of story

I think he might mean "big plate", he was just jealous I wouldn't share with him!

If that was an epic sou wester than I'm not sailing sou westers ever again, it was rubbish. Your right Fast Eddy if you turned up an hour earlier you could have got home an hour earlier too, so it would have been heaps better!

Krusty what is it you look for in a good sail???, is it surf that breaks above your head, with a clean face and enough wind to be maxed on a 4.7 coming cross to cross off??? all the boxes were ticked for me. Im sorry you didnt enjoy yourself clown. Better luck next time, maybe itll be knee high and 12ks then you can have a more enjoyable sail

Hey pipe down Big Fella... your time will come.
Just a little over 8 weeks and its back to the worlds longest left hander.
Your new happy clapper board should work a treat dialing into those long long long walls !
Almost as good as Wanda by the sounds

Kev

PS - Krusty I thought gig plate must have been some new reference to a stage... where a band would play live... as in a gig. As in a 'live performance was on display !
As for the cup cakes...

Krusty was the one maxed on a 4.7 fat boy (hes weighing in similar to you I guess, somewhere around 140 ), "its too windy!!" was the quote.

New site rep:

Swell and wind have backed off... but certainly looking the goods for this coming weekend (the weekend B4 the comp)

With westerly's predicted for tomorrow and Saturday it could be worth the drive for you southern folk.
Friday arvo or Saturday morning look the pick with a spike in swell due to kick late Friday night.

I will try and get a shot later today once the wind starts to shift west and see what effcet it has on the swell.

Kev

PS - couple of parking options to consider. Due east of the main carpark (with the million speed humps) is a park and bbq area (next to the skate park behind the caravan park)
Plenty of parking, green grass to rig on and only a short walk to the water with your gear. From there you can either launch through the rocks and tack up... or simply walk a bit further along the beach and launch straight out from in front of the club house.
