It's 10 min from Warrnambool. Head toward Port Fairy through Killarney and turn left at Woodbine Rd. Follow the road through the Right hand bend and then right at the far end of the air strip for access to the lake. :)

You'll see the lake from the hwy, to the left. If you miss the turn-off, either do a u-turn, or just go into Pt Fairy centre, and follow the beach road around past the golf course.

Buckles, don't know if I'll get over there this weekend...working bee at kids school on Sat, and if the noreaster picks up on Sun, we'll be sailing one of the local spots...you're welcome to make the trip over (extra 40mins drive), check out the coastline on google, we've got good access to most wind directions.

You're a good man Sailhack. Not many schools can find enough interested parents to bother having working bees these days. It's good to know it still happens somewhere (I'm a teacher).

I told a mate I'd go fishing on Sunday. He's just got his first boat but no licence yet so he needs me to drive it for him. I'd feel bad if I ditched him to go sailing under the circumstances. I might be able to re-organise the day though. I went to Portland with my girlfriend recently and noted some good spots in the area. :)
