Windsurfing Tasmania (WT) is looking for nominations for the position of President and Treasurer. These key positions were made vacant at the last AGM (March 2010). Once nominations are received a special meeting of the WT Committee will be held to vote in the two successful nominees. The positions are:

President - to guide and develop windsurfing in Tasmania with the support of the WT Committee by supporting existing events and promoting new events. Key goals will be to increase membership numbers and participation in social and competitive events.

Treasurer - to receive membership payments, facilitate quarterly payments to the Australian Windsurfing Association (AWA) and to provide an annual summary of finances. Key goals will be to set up an electronic funds transfer (EFT) system for direct payment of membership fees, management of member details and assignment of unique sail numbers for members.

The successful nominees will be windsurfers currently residing in Tasmania who have a passion for the sport and the energy to drive it forward. Much of the focus to date has been on racing events, but more consideration could be given to social events (off-the-water), beginner days and social gatherings to increase the membership base. There is also the opportunity for local windsurfing clubs to be set-up within the WT umbrella. Such clubs would allow more specialisation of interest within a geographic area.

Please post your nominations to this forum. Nominations will need to be seconded, so if you agree with a nomination, please provide your support by posting it to this forum. For nominees to be considered, the nominees will need to accept their nomination!

All successful nominations will be considered by the WT Committee and put to a vote for election to the nominated position of President or Treasurer. This call for nominations will close on April 30th or before this date if it is clear there has been sufficient nominees and discussion.

This is a great opportunity to get involved in the direction of your sport. These positions will be fully supported by the Secretary and Committee members of WT.

Hi Easty, no, you don't need to be a paid up member to nominate or be nominated!! This is about getting the best people into these roles to support and promote our sport.

I was thinking of being Treasurer, if it's not too time consuming. My business goes a bit ballistic on and off so I don't have much time to do anything else except get a sail in. That's why I thought of Damo.

Russ would make a better El Presidento than me, he's young, cool, good looking, sells gear, sails fast and would attract young chicks and little boys into the sport. Seriously i know you all reckon I'm a ****hot sailor but we don't need a 58 year old hippy promoting the sport.

Anthony you'd make a fantastic President, your motivated, passionate about windsurfing and your already promoting it. Then if I become Treasurer we can work together on stuff.

Thanks for the nomination for the role; I am a bit worried that I will not have the available free time with family commitments to give it what the role deserves?

Happy to accept the nomination and give it my best shot if others do not take on the role, because like the rest of us I love our sport and the characters in it.

Just like to add, when I say guys I mean girls and blokes, so Kazza it's great you're treasurer. My daughter rosie is keen and she sees Kazza and Jodie as role models so let's get the girls, that'll get the young blokes in
