Clarence city council, has just started works on Lauderdale boat ramp ,it is now no longer ,after bulldozer works .The existing boat ramp has been ripped up out of the ground, ready for San dune revegetation and a new 1600 mm wide viewing platform and walkway providing no access for trailer boats.
There is a massive safety issue here for any boat or recreactional water craft in trouble.
A young man we all know ,broke his leg 1km off shore from this boat ramp, and thankfully was rescued by a fellow water user.
Without this boat ramp the possibilities of a quick rescue would, or could result in the death of water user's in the Frederick Henry bay Area if in trouble, go figure.
You will hear more about this in the media and full support would be great from all water users .

i have contacted mast/ council and local groups- hopefully it is not too late,
no sense in this at all. All to do with erosion and sea water washing over road, they say ( council) we all know this only happens once every 8 years!.
Funny it happens outside the young mans BP every westerly on a exra high tide!

Hey Nathan ,the Clarence city council has put this up as the boat ramps (YACHT CLUB ROCHES BEACH, OR CREMORNE ) now to be used.
And this is where the problem is, Yacht club commodore also a windsurfer, " the ramp has been made specifically for tractor use only so that is very difficult to unload a boat and trailor".
Even 4 wheel drives would get bogged there, and with sailing boats and kids ect on a sunday sail day, you could not even get to the beach.
The yacht club dont want people using there ramp ,and who owns a tractor.

Cremorne boat launch area - here is the safety factor , cracker jack is floating around in the water with a broken leg 1 km of lauderdale boat ramp shore ,the wind has turned westerly and he is floating to white beach ,his little nephew has noticed cracker in trouble and jumps on his boogie board to try to assist they are now both in trouble being blown out to sea, it would now take at least half an hour from Cremorne to launch a boat and get to the people in trouble or if a high tide at Cremorne no boat launch at all.
Summers day ,mill pond conditions, 11.35AM predominant South easterly seabreeze blows in 20 knots ,4 times 12 foot boats in the bay, trying to get back to Cremorne boat ramp, is not going to be much fun, super dangerous, .
By not having an access point for a motor boat or jet ski, at lauderdale could be the difference between saving a life of someone drowning or in trouble.
There have been people drown is this bay before , more than once.
Clarence city council say they are worried about sea level rise and land inundation hence filling up old boat ramp site with sand bags an re vegetation works to proceed.
The area only floods once a blue moon, big surf ,and water flows straight in to the canal water way .
No houses are near by this boat ramp , and being a person who has lived in the area for 40 years can see no logic in Removing This Boat Ramp
Someone will drown and it will be on the back of Clarence City Council.
Dont fix what aint broke.
Get on board, sign petitions at Bp lauderdale ,pub lauderdale, news agency lauderdale. Lets get this boat ramp reinstated or a new one in the area for all water users and especially Safety

Interesting Flouro 1 I heard similar snow report couple of years back regarding conditions in the Italian alps. Apparently due to higher moisture content in warmer air - maybe snow sport folk might be winners out of climate changes?? The proposed access does not seem wide enough for passage of rig in decent wind strength although it may allow it if there is no woodwork above hip high or so with a reasonable vegetation clear zone - is it possible to lobby for a more windsurfer friendly structure if we can't use the proposed one as it is too good a location to lose (although needs warm showers and coffee van)?

Yeah, this is a load of crap to put it nicely.
Some " expert" comes down from the mainland and decides that the lowest point on Lauderdale beach is at the boat ramp.
He says it floods the road behind it when we have a big swell, so that fixes some of the erosion problems!
The last time this happened was in 2011!!!
The South Arm Highway has a two thousand plus cars at day using it and it floods over at least 15 times plus a year .

If we apply the CCCs bandaid ,panic and non consultive approach to the coast then the steadily rising sea level of about 1mm a year since the last ice age which is due to accelerate because of human made carbon pollution will lead to untolled economic and social chaos .
The quick solution then is to reduce human population,something that only AI aware super computers controlling the worlds growing number of automated military drones are capable and ruthless enough to do. ( The terminator movies are probably a factual documentary of the future made to try and warn us)
Still don't know why Melbourne recorded its coldest day since 1970 on Thursday except maybe we have gobal dimming caused by air pollution particals reflecting the suns rays ,one big volcanic eruption could fix gobal warming for a while I suspect

Hard to see the Lauderdale ramp being reinstated once it's been torn up.

Apart from potentially needing a tractor, the Yacht Club ramp is totally unsuitable for launching on many days due being unprotected from the waves. In those conditions you have to launch into the shallows then wait for a pause between sets and shoot out quick before the next breaking wave gets you. To get back in need to come in on the back of a wave. Not for the majority of boaters.

Now we are talking, the Professor always makes great sense, exactly right yacht club no good Tgale used to sail there and knows what he is talking about
I am hoping for new ramp to be put back where it was.!!!

Appleman is right on a perfectly good easy level access for elderly people,dog walkers and water sports people to access their beach closed for no real reason

The non consulted locals looping on the 9 August 2016 while I could watch in comfort from the car this will be the last photo from a "classic surf check spot"

A gate like Clifton beach would have allowed emergency services access still and kept cars off beach if that was even a problem

Does anyone know what they are building on the canal side?

I've just sent an e-mail to CCC to ask who's decision it was and why, so that if there's an incident and somebody's life is jeopardised, then someone can be accountable for that. I'll let you know if/what the the reply is.

Council suggested launching boats in Ralph's bay not much use if your drowning in lauderdale bay .
Are you ment to drive your boat up the canal over the road and new sand dune into lauderdale bay?

Does anyone have an update?, it was all go down there and now since the publicity no one has been working there for 7 days.
