Great event Steve.
Bloody hard work but a great Aus day tradition

Great photos, That is a good one with the sails Easty

Yeah russ something need doing, but I don't know what.
I was nearly in the water when someones sail started coming down, and I was stuck. I couldn't move to help or move to get out of the way, just had to keep slowly slipping and feeling to get to the water.

Thats an optical illusion ' as we call it in the trade'!.
Look at the cutout at the back of the board , its a drunk starboard sailor.
That Will after too many pies, i think he catapulted on that rope at the start?
Seventh position was daves old starboard carve with a 5.8/5.5 aerotech charge.
cheers

Great event Steve, the wind played it's part at last. Yes Russ those rocks are a weapon of mass destruction in many ways. Stairs need to be put down there not just for us but for pedestrians as well. Pete wanted to get stairs put in years ago and hence thats what took him away.

Hi Guys,

I have raised the issue of safe access into the water for sailboarders and other user groups with the relovant Hobart City Council Parks Manager. He has thanked me for raising the issue, and committed to looking into this and providing a formal responce next week.

Cheers Russ

That's great Russ, it's dangerous getting over those rocks, it's supprising the locals haven't complained before now.
Let's see what the response is, if negative you could put a formal submission in on behalf of Windsurfing Tasmania.

Well done Russ, almost anything would be better than what they have now. My understanding is that the development was going to continue, as stage two, so they didn't finish it off past the point where it ends, so they can continue it further, later. Regardless, be good to get a 'temporary' solution that improves safety. Larger rock (squarish - 0.5m blue-stone blocks) placed strategically in 'steps' would probably be the go (maybe 2-3m wide and extending from the grass to the sand).

Good to get that launch spot fixed may encourage more people to sail there.

Used to be heaps of great people from the southern suburbs or should I say Sandy Bay, the suburb where the sh.t don't stink, sailing out here, be good to get that cranked up again it's so close to home.
If the local guys like the Shorty's and the Bears etc posted on the forum we may encourage more to go out here.

It would certainly raise the average IQ as the Lauderdale bogans......let's face it.....haven't got much between the ears[}:)]

The IQ of Lauderdale was fine until last week when it dropped about 50 points after Jez moved in
