me to. got there around 3.30 just in time to see it dying.

as i was heading in ot the city at 11am it was pumping. reports are it really blew hard around lunch time.

hi ken,

winter wind doesn't always mean big board and big sail. it depends where you sail. wello rocks in winter!!

More than happy to be wrong about that, once I get home.
The westerlies I'm used to from Bundaberg are notoriously gusty, but maybe better furtehr south ??
The year I was in Perth the winter sailing was awesome on small gear , but that was an epic year for fronts too, the first time Mundaring Weir had overflowed in 22 yrs or summat.
Weird how it's warmer to sail in winter over there too.

yeah, sailing the sunny coast growing up i had similar experiences.

well has been coined the winter wonderland.

I hate you all

You love them compared to how much I hate them.

Question: Sooooo an 85 litre board might not be entirely unuseable? I'm seriously considering one and a 4.7 for those days. (I'm 80kg)

I still own a Delta thruster that is probably 75-80 odd litres and both a 4.5 and a 4.0 sail.
I expect to use them again.
I'm 80kg too, though planniogn to get down to 75 to make everything work better.
The 92L JP quad I bought this year is eminently usable at the Goldie, both Currumbin and Kirra and feels TINY !! I mean, really tiny !!
So yeah, having a small baord and rig is not foolish. You can't use it if you don't have it, and you need it for the really epic days. Like ski-ing. You might not use powder skis very often, btu do you really want to be sitting inside on epic powder days ??
