nope.

so bloody far to drive.

i still got my 95lt and 85lt wave boards so if it's 20 knots i'll be right. bom is only calling 15-20 so will see how it goes.

got a meeting in the city so will swing by wello on the way home.

Hey Justin do you think Caloundra will work in a SW??

northern tip of bribie is ok in a SW wind. a few of the locals go there.

usually gives cross off waves but can be gusty. if it gets to much west in it it's no good.

in order of wind bestness for SW direction.

bribie
wello
redcliffe
caloundra

for W direction

wello

where wello edges out all of the other spots for a safe bet is that it works from SW-NW so when the wind changes directions a lot. (which it does during wind from the west) it still works.

I'll be out around 1, need to stop off and pick up a new tendon on my way! :D

Should've pulled the tiny board out of storage!

Woooo!

Let me remind you, winter wind means big board, big sail.

I don't know, I've seen Wellington Point at 35+ in winter, according to some guy with an anonomenomonomemeter ...one of those things.

Hands are red and sore from holding onto the 5m and wave board; some gusts must have been around 25kts? Was good to finally have some decent wind after all this time!

hi ken,

winter wind doesn't always mean big board and big sail. it depends where you sail. wello rocks in winter!!

knocked of school at 12:30 and went for my second visit to wello, last time i was there it was 30 knots from the west and i was blown through my sail oh well it was only the 4.5 meter

had a heap of fun ended the session by taking my fin off and annoying the kiters in 10cm of water

good fun

haha, was it you i saw sailing around backwards for a bit, too? :)

It was great fun early when the 7.5 filled up on those 20knot+ runs. My hands are now shredded, i haven't got my callouses back yet, but it was so worth it. :D

My feel for the sail is completely absent atm, i only managed one gybe the whole day, and when i was coming in downwind it showed that i'd lost my board balance too. Oh well, at least i can still waterstart.

Practice makes perfect, we just need more days like this, closer together. Well... when my hands stop bleeding.

More than happy to be wrong about that, once I get home.
The westerlies I'm used to from Bundaberg are notoriously gusty, but maybe better furtehr south ??
The year I was in Perth the winter sailing was awesome on small gear , but that was an epic year for fronts too, the first time Mundaring Weir had overflowed in 22 yrs or summat.
Weird how it's warmer to sail in winter over there too.
