What is a 2015 Isonic doing on the side of the road like that? Story indeed!!!
I suppose a story full of
Seems well secured windsurf boards can escape out the back of the roof racks at 100kph. Didn't do the ' strap through foot strap loop' as a part of the tiedown
Whoooosh, whuuump and OMG. There's my boards in the middle of the highway and here comes all the cars
Fortunately a pensioner running/hobbling down the highway dressed in colourful shirt with nice undies (in case anything goes wrong) frantically waving is enough to divert traffic
Boards rescued, minimal damage LESSON LEARNED
Cheers Jeff - still mortified!!!
The day was very enjoyable and it reminded me of the olden days when I sailed with Hedgie and a few of the serious sailors down in Newcastle in the
late eighties and nineties while I was still learning how to gybe. Great days.
First time at the lake but definetly not the last.
I first joined wind Wanderers for the insurance cover but am now experiencing the social benefits.
Looking forward to more of the same.
On the "FLYING OBJECTS" subject...
When I think how badly that could have ended I thank god that it's better to be lucky than intelligent
Jeffs bottom two boards were secured with straps and the top board (my naish 140) was strapped on top as I left my car at maccas at Caboolture and
travelled with Jeff.
The smooth board bags and the lack of some security thru foot straps and the fact that the boards formed a wedge shape all being stacked nose
forward contributed to the disaster.
The black boxes were recovered but the data was illegible.
A very lucky outcome all things considered
The day ended with a huge adrenaline rush, I can tell you....
