Join us over the long weekend in May at Lake Cootharaba.
We will have beginner boards available for a come and try afternoon.
We are also looking at running a fun GPS or slalom event depending on the weather and the usual Windwanderers BBQ and prizes so keep the dates 5-7 May free.
Updates to follow.
Booked our spot for 4 days.
Is it true Andy is putting on a keg Saturday night?
Hoping Brisbane crews can come for the weekend, but you need to book early at Boreen Point Camping Ground. $20.00 a night for 2 people.
Booked our camp site for 3 nights.
Saturday night we are going to the Apollonian Hotel for dinner/meeting/AGM for those that want to join us. Be there to have your say on the direction of our club.
Don't forget to pack your SUP/longboard as an alternative light wind option for some fun races if the wind doesn't cooperate. Also your tennis rackets for a hit on the courts behind the camping ground.
Andy be sure to keep the keg cold![]()
Unfortunately I can't make it but hopefully the wind will be great for you all and some will get good distances and have a solid lead as a buffer before I get back! ![]()

IT would seem that the park is booked out that weekend. Even camping sites without power. Must be something else on there that weekend
Unfortunately NS14 states and the jack holt regatta are on that weekend as well... Its going to be a busy weekend at the lake
I'll go up and stay at Elanda point if the weather is OK but the minister for domestic affairs has other commitments so I'll come up on my own. Would it be a major enterprise for an early intermediate to sail down to Boreen from there or to where ever the activity is?
Or drive from Elanda to Boreen and rig on the vacant
block, although you will need the Mayors pemission.
I don't understand, but OK!
. My freeride board has a 54cm fin, is that going to be a problem up there?
With a 54cm fin you will have a little walk out
at both Elanda & Boreen, but from the mayors
vacant block you are straight into deep water.
The mayor of Boreen is Jeffrosail.
Depending on weather we have decided to run the free lessons on both saturday and Sunday morning from 10am till midday. Anyone is welcome to come along, both Pete and myself will be available to give lessons for beginners or intermediates.
We won't be running any official slalom or course racing this time around, not enough time to organize it and it will be a big weekend with the LCSC state titles etc. We will however plan to do a fun GPS event, so don't forget to bring your GPS.
Hope to see as many of you as possible next weekend for a fun social weekend and to discuss the future of a Sunshine Coast/Fraser Coast windsurfing club.
Cheers
Kellie
For anyone who didn't read it on other threads.
The LCSC Mayday regatta course racing is officially open to sailboards.
sign on Saturday morning form 10.00 am
competitors meeting 11.30am
Three races back to back starting 12.30pm.
Four races on Sunday starting at 10.am.
Still debating whether to come up or not. I mashed the side of my thumbnail last week and it got infected, bloody sore but it's getting better, not sure if it will be better for the w/e.
I'm heading up with my son and his friend on Saturday morning. I'm bringing my raceboard to join Tony Matta, Peter Nitchski and the dingys. Are their any other raceboard sailers. My son and friend are beginners and are keen to take advantage of the beginner boards on offer. We will be staying at Elanda Point. Where is the vacant lot and how do I get Jeffroails permission or is Ploppy pulling my chain!
Hi John
Great to hear you are coming up to the lake -should be a good weekend. I'm not sure about any other raceboard sailors at this stage.
We have decided to run the lessons at the day picnic area just before the entrance to the Boreen point camping ground. It is nice and shallow there for beginners and there are toilets/change rooms, kids playground bbq etc. So no need to ask permission from they Mayor of Boreen point
, yes he is only joking.
Just take the turn off to the Boreen point camping ground (before sailing club and shop).
Regards
Kellie
Hi John
To my knowledge there will be at least two other people racing.
If you want to race, you need to sign on at the club before 11.30.
I won't be unfortunately since I am oficiating.
Look forward to seeing you there anyway.
Just so you all know the meeting time has been brought forward to 4pm tomorrow due to time constraints of outgoing committee. The meeting will now be held at the Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club (not the pub) Everyone is welcome to attend to discuss the future of the club, ideas, input, but only Windwanderers members will have voting rights.
Table is booked for 6pm onwards at the Pub and there will be a spit roast on for $15. Acoustic Jam session is happening from 3-5pm then band Cats in Hats will do be performing. Should be a good night

Been out shopping for a wetsuit this morning and a few items to refresh the camping gear and looks like I will get away early tomorrow morning so hope to bump into a few of you guys there. Wind looks pretty poor so might try and throw on my old Bic long board as well, it might be easier than the other board... maybe. that's it there << but I hav my new rig adapted to it.
