Hi Wanderers,
i have pencilled in the weekend of the 30/31 for the next Wanderers meet to be held on the sunshine coast.
cheers
JB
Sooo if this seabreeze prediction is true. does that mean 4.7 conditions?
fckk i can already see me putting a hole true my new north ice ):
What??!!!??!! 30+ knots. I seem to remember a 4.7 somewhere in my past.
I will have to do some archaeology in my garage to find it.
my small gear is waiting...... ![]()
i will keep an eye on the swell though as 6m will mean mast+ waves which is to say the least way beyond our level and probably total closeout conditions.
Gesty, looking forward to the next meet. Does Mooloolaba have a shallow area for beginners? just got my missus into windsurfing (there is a god) and shes pretty keen to get out next weekend.
PS where is the 'golden pond'
Damn it!
The flares running late due to one mistake ):
I wont be able to bring the flare to the meet, its arriving on monday ):
hi lee,
mooloolaba is ocean/surf/swell conditions so not good for beginners. especially with a mast hi surf running.
caloundra is perfect for beginners.
hi oli,
no worries mate, enjoy MR, p.s. is that Margaret RIver?
scully,
just don't sleep with it!
forecast,
i expect the forecast to be be completely unpredictable and changing all of the time. what the forecast is trying to predict is the location of Ex tropical cyclone Olga which is currently in the southern area of the gulf.
"Depending" on what happens
it is either forecast to move down through inland qld flooding the whole way and then crossing the coast again somewhere near bundaberg or south australia.
there is so much going on who can tell what wil happen.
we will wait till closer and make a call as per usual routine>
sounds like fun, i've always wanted to try out golden pond, looks like it may be a challenge to get a park if the weather is sunny, and i'm thinking of the right spot.
i'll bring the 75L newwave for anyone who doesn't have a small board
Ive realised its a $50 fuel to Mooloolaba and back + toll fees, so i think ill give this one a miss. Ill be at wello :D
EDIT; if anybody wants to be cheap like me and carpool?
lemme know 0409531440
Mooloolaba on 4-6mtr is..well challenging to say the least.
Just getting off the beach is a mission at times.
Have had some epic sails in 3-4mtr..
and some not so epic ones as well ![]()
The Problem lies in the break is very inconsistent in where it will peak.
Having spent many years riding mals and surf ski's on the cyclone swells when they arrive in the bay, you can get one wave that will not break untill the beach, then the next is a foaming beast that rolls in from 250mtr out with a full head of 6ft thick white water rushing at you.... very good for the adrenal glands at times
, and you definitely get to improve your breath holding technique.
OK, lets have some fun now on Sunday ![]()
we will see what the weather brings.
if the swell is massive we'll go the pond regardless of wind direction as it is near on impossible to get out through the shorey. ![]()
guys we will go to an amber light on the meet. i can confirm that if any day the meet will be on sunday rather than the saturday but the final decission will be made tomorrow night. if the forecast keeps showing light winds we will look towards the following weekend.
cheers
JB
HI justin, its Darren Love. Started Windsurfing again. Keen to know more about wind wanderers. I,ve sent an email via the wind wanderers site with my phone numbers. Could you please check it and give me a call. Keen for Burrum, also i see your going to Golden Beach tomorrow. Keen to catch up.
Where does one find a swell report?
Never mind I found one here - http://www.swellnet.com.au/loc_report.php?region_id=18&state_id=1
There's no swell to speak of.
i am sore! ![]()
6-20 knots is hard on the back!
cheers to all for coming along, was a great turn out today and a good way to farewell golden beach as a venue for the wanderers.
all golden pond meets will from now on be held at moolooaba.
AWESOME! ![]()
Thanks for organizing everything Gesty, usual gusty conditions. Know anyone with some c4 so we can remove the top of Bribie
Awesome day, once again i missed the hot dogs was having way too much fun. Hard work driving home as i ached so much but well worth the effort.
