Two new clubs became affiliated to Windsurfing Queensland today.
We are sorry for the small delay with the paperwork but unfortunately the club tax return, the incorporation, work and life in general got in the way for a little bit there. Either way the WindWanderers and the SEQ Wavesailing clubs are up and running and you will be able to join them to enjoy all of their upcoming events.
You can find the WindWanderers at the following link http://www.windwanderers.com/ and SEQ is having its open day this weekend. The following link will take you to their forum entry with details www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=43060
Both clubs look like they are set to make the best of the season with a number of awesome events scheduled to help us all get out on the water in a fun and social atmosphere.
You now have four clubs to choose from, all with varying venues and covering most of the disciplines from Freestyle to longboarding. We welcome all of the new clubs and wish them all the best in their first year as independent entities. We hope you can all get behind the clubs to ensure they are here for us all to enjoy again next season.
Regards, WQ.
Hairy, you know you really shouldn't blow emoticon kisses with an avatar like that.
Its kind of ickky.![]()
I'll take a hairy kiss anytime, any place. It is nice to get some positive feedback though. We WQ folk really ain't all that bad, were just drawn that way...
Sorry folks .. this topic was cleaned up a little; dicussing highly emotive personal issues are probably best done via PM, Phone or some other means... ![]()
Thanks
I've just been having a putacleen and found this video i chucked together from the slalom racing at manly in march of this year. I'm pretty sure i posted it at the time but no one could play it on their computer, so i've re compressed it. it's about 32mb and can be downloaded here.http://www.mediafire.com/?mjjmjatd9ys
Windows media player probably won't play it, and you will most likely need quicktime player, media player classic, or VLC player instead
thanks
unfortunately that's all i had of the slalom event.
If possible, would you guys mind downloading this short vid and tell me if the video and audio plays back smoothly on your computers? http://www.mediafire.com/?mfsb2ift7dm
it's a helmet cam at full HD 1920x1080 25p and i think most peoples machines will struggle with it if i don't get the bitrate sorted. i'm going to make a whole video with everyone in and let the students edit it up as an assignment it if all goes to plan. There's still a wide angle lens to go on it yet, but i'm most concerned about the playback on the average pc/mac. same deal as the slalom one, you'll probably need VLC, mediaplayer classic or quicktime player etc. If you do happen to download it, and you know what processor/s is in your computer and it's speed, would you be able to let me know what they are?
Much appreciated if you can ![]()
tried it on the work beast,
xeon cpu, dual quadro, 4gig ram, 21in lcd, win xp 64 bit
was a bit jumpy and pixelated.
will try it at home tonight also.
heading for the train (station) now.
Sick Sail![]()
it sorta lags but not to badly (could be just bumping over chop).
ran it on my laptop 2Gb ram, core 2 duo 2.4 ghz processor.
anyways I'm waiting for your first dvd release now that would be really sweet![]()
orsm thankyou. did the start bit with the sail n board in the water play smoothly, and does the sound work on your machines? can you tell me what player you guys use? I notice quicktime makes it jerkier and chews more cpu than mp-classic and VLC .
using MP classic, runs fine. does seem a little jerky, but i think that may be due to it being shot in such a high res + framerate, rather then difficulty in playback. not sure. audio is fine too.
*Edit* okay just had a quick look in quicktime. super jerky and slow in quicktime.
yeah, i think QT player is suss. the shutter speed of the cam is 1/2000 which is why it looks jittery so there's no motion blur. i'm mostly concerned that the video doesn't intermittently pause whenever there is high motion in high contrast areas.
thanks for checking
Hey hc,
works fine for me, vlc (linux), fullscreen. sound in sync with video.
2GB Ram, Core 2 Duo, 1.86GHz

home pc

3.5 gig ram

raptor drives
water cooled ([}:)][}:)])
what codec did you use? i updated to VLC 9 and it made no difference?
I'll look at those vids later
But just thought that i'd add I love all your Windwanderers movies esp. Train and Wello ones
The flashy 3S board and the cruisy music is great chillout
Keep them coming, great to see Aus movies with real sailors (aka no crazy pro's) in locations i've actually seen (you can actually understand how to sail like that and try to copy, unlike the pro vids where you go how they do that?)
Good stuff Haircut
Hi Haircut, I just took a look at the slalom footage. You really have a great skill there, the clip really captures the feel of the day and I really got a buzz out of watching it, especially seeing Simon's semi submerged chicken dance, he must have got those moves off Dancing Mike...
I will leave it on my desktop and watch it whenever work is getting a bit boring.
Thanks again for taking the time to take the footage and prepare it so we can all re-live some of the great days we have had on the water.
Have you ever thought of preparing a DVD for local sailors to buy? I think there would be quite a demand from people wanting to see themselves and their mates in locations that they are familiar with.
Perhaps people can reply to this post to see what sort of demand there might be and what they would pay for it. I might talk to you to see if WQ can get involved in some way as a way to promote the sport.
