Redcliffe gets my vote, reliable wind, clean water, rideable in all tides and actually a very nice place to live and work. The lack of waves is compensated for by its' close proximity to the Sunshine Coast. I think it is a bit of a forgotten gem myself.
( PS. I live in North Brisbane and have worked and windsurfed in Redcliffe for 25 years).
Seems Redcliffe is getting the thumbs up from everyone, i never been sailing there.
Have been sailing at Mackay at Seaforth Beach and was Great!!!
But far as i go, anywhere is better than Rockhampton - its crapp to live and sail!!!
Will be venturing to Emerald in a few weeks to go freshwater Sailing at Lake Fairburn - meant to be bigger than Sydney Harbour!!!
Sorry Sausage, i will be leaving the Central Region when i can!!!!!!
awesome...
Back at NSW I used to be a regular at botany bay, and wanda beach. I loved those two spots...
I think redcliffe got heaps of votes. and seems to match up..... I like. Burrum too far for me, but who knows..... kekekeke
Personally I like the Sunshine Coast the most. Great ocean sailing at Mooloolaba in clear blue water, good waves at Neil & Anne streets Caloundra plus flat water at Golden beach and the lake. The coastal lifestyle beats the city any day.
Has anyone done much sailing at castaways beach, sunrise beach etc.. that long beach up at sunshine coast?
Probably the best week of windsurfing in QLD i have ever had and it was in Yeppoon 10 Days straight of unbelievable sailing
Hey Sausage it was an unreal that trip will be doing it again next year exact same time. And no dad has quite forgiven me last week added to the breaking dads gear list this summer so far
1 brand new board
1 mast
and now one boom
just shows how good this season has been so far windsurfing on average 5 times a week.
Bowen has got it all. It has front beach were it blows hard from the SE in the morning and it is waist deep with chop at one end, little set types waves in the middle and flatish water at the other end all in the one bay. (dont ask me how but i dont lie). Then when the wind swings around to the east you have two more bays to choose from and then there is The Don river mouth were it is flat water behind a sand bank on the right tide.
OH and the the nickname for Bowen is "BLOWIN"....... yes because it is always blowin' in Bowen.
The water is as blue as the sky...... nice.
No Chicks though ![]()
Well I did'nt see any crocs yesterday arvo when I was blasting down there in 20knts SE with a full tide and crystal clear water a 5.30pm. All by my lonesome, and loving it.
. Actually I havnt seen any crocs in sailing these waters in 20 years, A few sharts and stingers but they don't bother me and I don't bother them.![]()
lol, yes the shart comment came after the 49000th post about sharks and or stuck masts. ![]()
so you see a shark and then you **** yourself and you got a shart! ![]()
