Out of the sunshine coast, brisbane, down to Byron. Where along this coast line do you reckon is the best location for sailing to live?

If you could relocate where wud you go? So far I'm liking the look of Byron or up at mooloolaba?

Other suggestions?

I think you will find Brisbane has the most reliable wind - Manly/Wello

You're all dreaming ...

REDCLIFFE.

5 knots more wind than anywhere else in SE QLD on ANY given day. Undebateable.

It could do with a few more waves and some chicks however ...(both coasts beat it on that front).

i agree . considering the amount of wind and sailing you can get regardless of wind direction, somewhere between redcliff, manly and wello and viccy point would be the ideal, even with the water looking like diarrhea. if u like to sail in the early mornings before work, seems like southern goldcoast is the spot

+1 (and the water is generally much cleaner than spots like Wello or the Broadwater (IMO))

Just comparing it on my own experiences sailing at the Train and at Queen's beach. Train can often seem really muddy and uninviting and give the impression the water's full of rubbish, broken bottles, hypodermics etc.

Water off queens on Wednesday was gorgeous - just gorgeous.

Just my opinion.

you could try Boreen Point (Lake Cootharaba)

1. Great sailing spot
2. Has a great pub
3. friendly locals
4. Stray backpackers
5. See points 2 and 4
6. If you break your gear on the other side you just walk back

Queens Beach is my favourite. Been sailing Bris for 18 years now. It's hard for me to go anywhere else. (I live 5mins away too).

Sean if you there on Wed.........chicks. You would have been impressed. IKW77 will confirm that thought for sure. It was like being at Coro's WA with the euro's.

Seems like everyone has their own ideas i do agree with Redcliffe having more wind but personally i believe not a nice place to live and not much work. Manly and Wello both good also but a bit of a drive unless you live local and then you need money..........like Vando.
Obviously i pick the Gold Coast except in Westerly(but it is possible) the down side is the Broad Water gets very busy especially in the school holidays, parking and roads are getting congested also.I hear what people are saying about the dirty water but mate last week i was sailing with dolphins and the water was crystal especially high tide, anyway theres always the ocean, most of the time you can live on the Goldie and be 15 mins from your favorite spot, anyway we are full go to Noosa!

yous are all dreaming,

you gotta drive to get the best of all conditions,

redcliffe doesn't have any flat water, brisbane has the mud and goldy has the traffic!

best place is the redlands.

5mins to VP (S-SE), 30 mins to wello (SW,W,NW,N,NE), 35 mins to southport (SE,NE), 45 minutes to redcliffe (SE,NE)

the wind moves around

as far as girls, sean i've seen your facebook page mate. seems the best girls hang around the PWA/Formula sailors.

and vando's not rich, he is just better than everyone else so gets a good sponsors deal.

Whatever you do don't make the same mistake as me and move to an inner city suburb.

Move to Redcliffe, Sandgate, Redlands - anywhere Bayside where you can smell the beach.

If you move move to a Brisbane suburb your soul will die a little everyday.

It is certainly true that fit young, long-legged women were cavorting on the beach all afternoon in the skimpiest of bathing attire. But why wouldn't they with all those exciting windsurfers on offer? (well there were one or two kiters there but I can't see why girls would be interested in them)

I was thinking Byron, its a bit far but close enough for family. But now I've heard about heaps of sharks at Byron.... Ahhhhhhh man.

I could sacrifice flat water, so maybe red cliff?

I guess it depends what the winds are most of the time aye? that would be those from the north in summer, and south in winter, and that makes things tricky.

Yer the lakes always good fun Ive had some good sails there in the past.
Best in a NE though.

Recliffe for sure is a great spot too I should try to get there more often for a sail.
I suppose living 6 min from Wello its easy to just go there and it is a nice spot to sail particularly when the tides up, the water can be quite clear on the SE side.
I think the biggest diff between Reddi,Wello,Manly compare to some of the other spots is the consistency in the wind they are very open spots and plenty of room too.
