How about having the bbq on the Queens birthday weekend?. The Lorch was pretty good at Burrum Kellie but i didn't have a good fin on it, I reckon you need something around 85-90 litres.

That's what I was going to say, have a sail first and then eat later. Have the BBQ at the beach if it is windy or if the forecast is really bad then just go straight to Shaun's place

Keep this spot in mind for a westerly, best thing is that it is superflat, just make sure you know where the sand bars are, about a 600 metre run and very broad, I want to give this a good go next time we get a solid westerly

Not really muddy, not like VP, more like dark sand. Gotta watch the western end as it runs into knee deep water, the eastern end is deep as though.

- The 1st time I sailed there it was very gusty, on Sunday it was longer periods of wind and lulls in between then it dropped off around 4 :00/4:30. I got there late so may have missed the best wind. I dont think it would be any gustier then other areas in a SW.
- tide is not bad, there is'nt a lot of water in this part of the inlet
- I parked in Haysmouth parade, if you walk straight to the water its not too far to launch, but then you need to tack/beat upwind a bit

Its not a great GPS spot in that the runs are'nt long compared to other places, the most western tracks in the picture is as far as you can go then you run out of water, but its broad from this spot going back east so when you are going fast you are going into deep water, the runs are probably as effectively long as GB in a NE, although at GB you can get a run up before you hit the flat stuff. The best part is that its flat, broad and close to where I live

Might be worth checking out next tie it blows and its low tide.
I still think it would be bloody gusty though being that close to the land.
Did u sail there by your self ?

Fitz the ankle is still really sore. Boot has been off for 3 days and have started physio. Latest CT shows osteoporosis.

Not sure yet how much longer till I will be back on the water, loads of muscle wastage in my leg, so need to build this up first.

Now Vando if you go there one day and you thinks its crap, dont shoot the messeger, the only other place I have sailed in a SW is woody point and pelican park, and thats always as gusty as hell anyway

Yeah I sailed by myself, I was extra careful with the sand banks and did'nt go anywhere near any chop, next time I plan to go I'll post

Dont worry Hagger I wont shot you just watch ya back on the water I think its worth checking out though wellos good on a high tide for flat water but not low so if its low tide your spot might be worth a trip.

Fitz , Went to Queens but not enough wind. Only 10 to 14 knots. A bit disappointing. I need average 18kts to sail Evo 90 and 6.2.

Was Caloundra any better?

Good idea Fitz.

I thought the golden rule was never to book events on weekends between the hours of 12pm-4pm? Or does that apply to summer only?

Just read my own post, I meant sitting not seating, too early for me,brain not warmed up. We will try for a windless weekend, Carol said it is bad enough with only me watching the wind in the trees, she couldn't handle 6 or 7 of us doing it.
