Just back from Shearwater and had a great time even though very brief.......fitness not what it used to be by a long shot so will have to sort that out if I'm to get back on the board. Still, managed to gleen enough information from the session about my new kit, ability, fitness and the location itself......will definitely be back again soon wind permitting.

I did have a quick chat to one guy and his wife there as I tried to determine the best sail size to use (not sure if it was someone on here) but for those who were there I was the one with the very badly rigged North Sail sail who looked like a duck out of water on the water!!

Out of interest, for those who were there also, how did the conditions compare to a 'normal' Shearwater day? I thought they were pretty damned good myself with a good solid wind and some nice chop should the urge take you for some airtime.

Seems i'll need to find some other sail and board bags though as they have all perished from lack of use and sitting in a garage for a few years. Let's hope the sails themselves don't go the same way too early!!

Anyway, thanks to those who helped me find the place and to the chap who helped me pick the right sail. Next time I'll hopefully rig it correctly and be able to last a bit longer on the water. Will also come and say ho to a few other this time as well.

i think the conditions were fairly typical except that it tends to have nicer / cleaner ramps when the wind has a tad more east in it. when the wind is up and down a bit, and changing directions a bit, the chop gets a little messy as it was at times today. It was still fun all the same. not often do we get decent wind with rain

I broke my mast in half in the middle of Shearwater chop today,
I think 6.2sqm was too much for todays conditions at the time.
Thanks to Ricky on passing inflatable boat I had good ride to the bank at least.

Too much for my 5.0m at Labrador, decided to have a hot shower and settle in with a nice red and DVD for the arvo.
