Apologies for the newbie question but it's been years since I last windsurfed but am itching to get my recently purchased gear wet.
I have a 275 x 50cm 100l F2 board which correct me if I'm wrong is more of a wave board? I also have a 6.2 & a 7m sail and weigh 74 kgs. looking at the forecast on windfinder it looks like we are expecting about 20-25 knots tomorrow at the Seaway. Do you think these conditions will suit my gear? Should I be getting out there and if so where?
Thanks in advance for your help while I find my feet on this forum.
Aye, Mick
I will be going to Shearwater tomorrow on the Broadwater. The tide will be going out against a the S/E wind which should make good bump and jump conditions
Thanks Qlandr, when are you heading there and where exactly is Shearwater, will try and make it there myself if I can.
Thanks, Mick
I will try and get there for 10am unless the rain kills the wind.
Shearwater is at the northern end of the southport broadwater
Excellent, thanks guys. Hope to see you there........i'll be the one fumbling in the car park figuring out how to rig his gear up since it's been a few years since I last went for a sail.
Aye, Mick
Always more difficult rigging in 25/30knt winds and lashing it down, have fun, Grand for me if we get a break in the rain
Just back from Shearwater and had a great time even though very brief.......fitness not what it used to be by a long shot so will have to sort that out if I'm to get back on the board. Still, managed to gleen enough information from the session about my new kit, ability, fitness and the location itself......will definitely be back again soon wind permitting.
I did have a quick chat to one guy and his wife there as I tried to determine the best sail size to use (not sure if it was someone on here) but for those who were there I was the one with the very badly rigged North Sail sail who looked like a duck out of water on the water!!
Out of interest, for those who were there also, how did the conditions compare to a 'normal' Shearwater day? I thought they were pretty damned good myself with a good solid wind and some nice chop should the urge take you for some airtime.
Seems i'll need to find some other sail and board bags though as they have all perished from lack of use and sitting in a garage for a few years. Let's hope the sails themselves don't go the same way too early!!
Anyway, thanks to those who helped me find the place and to the chap who helped me pick the right sail. Next time I'll hopefully rig it correctly and be able to last a bit longer on the water. Will also come and say ho to a few other this time as well.
See you all soon hopefully.
Aye, Mick
Out of season but looks challenging and memorable....
Sunday: Wind: SE/E 34/40 knots. Sea: 3 to 4 metres. Swell: SE 3 to 4 metres
developing. Rain areas.
I wonder if Currumbin will handle it...
major crisis
drove home in wetsuit
in dire need of a number 2
wetsuit zipper stuck
no one to assist
had to resort to scissors
i now have a 2 piece wetsuit ![]()
p.s men in shops can expect a visit shortly
I am sitting here reading this cacking myself, no not crapping.......![]()
Your lucky you don't live in Bris vegas like myself as you might have had a real problem.
I stopped st Surf FX on the way home and checked out a couple of sails as i dont feel like hanging off the 6.1 again in 20-30knts with the 112 JP FSW
Arriving home from shearwater gave me about 5 min before i had to take the better half out for dinner so the car is still packed for tomorrow, fingers crossed. ![]()
I broke my mast in half in the middle of Shearwater chop today,
I think 6.2sqm was too much for todays conditions at the time.
Thanks to Ricky on passing inflatable boat I had good ride to the bank at least.
Thank you Ricky again for lift and you patience, Peter
You guys all truely suck!! I couldn't be further away from Shearwater if I tried.
Bugga Bugga Bugga
Have fun
late am for sw part 3
did the desperation cause a few
scissor induced flesh wounds
for the salt to sting this arvo
Its October serves you right, board shorts this time of year.I know someone who sails there even takes his wet suite off for a pee
That's funny.
Personally, I think it was a conspiracy between your ass and the zipper to get you out of that decrepit horror of a thing anyway.
Getting a bit warm for a steamer anyway, ain't it ??
Too much for my 5.0m at Labrador, decided to have a hot shower and settle in with a nice red and DVD for the arvo.
