Well I don't know if anyone else has been waiting on new gear turn up, but I have photographic evidence of some 2010 stock in the ferry rd southport SurfFX
I even have one of obscene goings ons in the back room and people doing hideous things to boxes, but maybe i should not post that (just yet
)

So you got the text as well Justin...
Unfortunately I was too busy painting the new house to get there today. Maybe over the weekend.
how impressive is the setup at surfFX, definately the best store in QLD. my palms get itchy everytime i go there.
or then there's this -
hehe picked the new Freestyle 107 Pro up today... ohhh baby looks so sexy! - now theres defniately going to be no wind this weekend!
Good to see that the graphics are even uglier than ever this year maybe they recruited from the Naish art department to help achieve this!
okay its done...see windsurfing general section for the ALL NEW PRIZELESS BOARD ART COMPETITION !!!!!![]()
The '10 JP designs may be poor, but it's horny to see that many lined up in a row.
What's the go with the surf-fx website? Not much detail in there??
for those into numbers, i broke out the digital scales to weigh the 2010 and older gear i have. I was mainly interested in the weight of the new sail and mast. The new sail really is noticeably lighter. Laying them on top of each other they virtually the same surface area too, given the 2010 has a little more (5cm or so) sticking out running down the leech down near the boom and the 2009 has about 15cm more length in the luff at the top
2009 5.8m Alpha = 4.3kg
2010 5.8m Alpha = 3.7kg
2009 430 X6 Skinny Mast = 2.1kg
2006 430 Powerex Skinny Wave 85% = 1.9kg
2010 430 X9 Skinny = 1.7kg (the walls of the mast are thicker than the powerex too??)
2008 JP Freestyle Pro 99l with straps and fin = 6.9kg
2010 JP Freestyle Pro 98l with straps and fin = 6.9kg
the board and 2009 sail were. The board has gone, but if you are interested in the sail you can let me know if you like.
there's a bit of wind here so i'm gonna gor for a sail and see if it floats
Bugga... I wouldn't mind a freestyle 100lish but can't justify a new one at the moment. Wind is picking up here too. Might even get a sail in. Next week looks good but I won't hold my breath the amount it's been changing.
great afternoon. wind was very good. did u get wind up there?
Have you considered willaus' freestyle 107 fws?
if anyone is interested, the new alpha really does feel great and i'm surprised just how nice it is. the wind was quite good so i don't know just how it will be for low low end grunt in marginal winds, but it feels very compact and noticeably lighter than last years, it's quiet in chop (no panel crunching noises), and has nice forward pull when the puffs hit. the shape doesn't move about at all, in fact when i first went out i had it so baggy almost the full length of the boom was touching the panel and it still felt good. it's a lot more like the 2008 alpha in overall feel and then lighter
might need a few more goes of the board before i can give honest opinion on that one. if there's one thing ni can say, you can jump on the rail when gybing and it bites in to carve, and the shorter nose is nice. maybe 2009 was like this too as the shapes really don't seem to look much different except for the funky heel dents??
Here is an extract from the new JP brochure.
"For 2010 we changed the profile of each board. This took about 10 minutes. Then the real challenge was to develop some graphics that were even uglier than the year before. The team went to work and came up with some new concepts whist keeping with the JP tradition of meaningless patterns up and down the boards. Kauli was given almost free reign to develop his new twin colour designs using green and gold. However, no designs were remarkably ugly enough. At the eleventh hour Ricardo came running in literally frothing at the mouth after visiting the Neil Pryde sheds. In his hand was a off cut from one of the new NP sails, and, in that moment, we knew we could finally get the formula right - Purple! The team went to work night and day randomly inserting, overlaying and combining purple with our already existing ugly colours whilst fusing them with the traditional JP patterns. At last we had a full catalogue ugly enough to launch the 2010 JP range."
So ugly, that you have to love them!
Sorry guys (Will & aus) but I will need to sell off some of my gear first, so it may be a couple of months before I am in the market. Bit hard to get approval from the financial controller.
WillAus -- have you tried your 2010 board yet? i find it sldes backwards more easily without the tail catching. maybe u won't notice so much with old one being 2009? usually i have to be really critical where my weight is when doing grubby and stay right over centre, but i found i could pull right through on ones the otherboard would stuff up. the new one is a lot more like the tabou 3s i had with regards to being a bit more freestyle friendly. still seems to plane very early.
the sail is tops and i can't say enough nice things about it. just hope it lasts as long as metalised film with UV exposure
speaking of graphics,
gotta love tabou's efforts.
also, if anyone wants to let a lumpy old man try a jp 2010 board my hand is up.. have really like the previous models.![]()
No haven't tried it yet! Have sitting around dreaming of it, and have nothing on all weekend so playing the waiting game haha. I'm still waiting on the sails cos there was a mixup with the order, but very keen to give the board a run. One thing I notice from just visually comparing them is that the tail is more pin shaped and nose is wider?
How does the deck feel?
