I have put a deposit on a formula board, picking it up next week so i am super keen to get into formula this year but my son is doing techno so saturdays will be RQYS for me as i will be there any way. If any other racing is happening on sundays i will do my best to get to them as well be it with bayside dpss or ppsc or wherever.
As I understand it, to launch from DPSS you would be walking down their boat ramp straight into deep water within the boat harbour area - near the VMR? so no walking out in the mud or guessing when you have to stop and get off the board to save the fin on return. Is that right??
I really don't enjoy walking in mud as I prefer not to wear booties when windsurfing.. hence any walking in the mud to launch is a risk to getting cuts etc... especially with a Formula Fin wear you have to go beyound waist deep to get on the board and Formula's are next to impossible to sail backwards with fin out of the water when returning and trying to get closer in... Raceboards are no where near the problem...
JUst a reminder that there is a race on at DPSS on Saturday 16th of June at 1.30.
Regardless of final decisions of individuals its a good oportunity to check out the place and have a racing fix as well.
I will be there on Raceboard. Phantom 320 with 8.5 sail.
The Bayside Sailboard club gala is on the same night next door at the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club. so you can bring your party clothes and go there after racing for an early start to the party.
Paradise Point will have a race on Sunday 17th.
Tony
I will be racing this year up at the lake with you on Sunday's when I can, but would also like to race on the bay sometimes. As I live on the Northside is there any other clubs that we could use. Such as Sandgate or Humpybong?
I have ordered the Exocet and Remi tells me that it should arrive in September so that should be a bit different to the Fanatic Mega cat I have been using.
That's an understatement.
A few more of these D2s and they will be a class in themselves. Very interesting. Hope to see you out on it.
I can't make PDSS on Saturday (I have a prior commitment), but can make the Crab Island Race at PPSC on Sunday. who else is racing this coming weekend and where?
I'm away this weekend, so no go either day for me :(
Re clubs: I've decided to join RQ. However, I'll also join Bayside (at the very least for the AWA sail number registration, but maybe for formula if that gets up) and I'm open to either guesting with or joining DPSS as well if that's where the scene ends up.
I hope to do both days this weekend. DPSS and PPSC.
Hi Scott, I look forward to seeing you at the lake next season, I think we will have a few more boards there this year. Northside clubs can be an option. I heard that Humpybong were going to fortnightly races. I believe they are not getting enough boats. I don't know anything about Sandgate clubs.
The impression I have is that most people prefer to sail in a fleet so until we get the numbers up, it will be more fun to go to clubs in a group. Each person will make their own decision in the end but hopefully they will keep sharing where they are going so that others can follow if they wish.
