I did this series last year and it was super friendly and well organised. I,ll be there again starting Sunday
I might try to make it down tomorrow. Seabreeze says 5-10 knots, BOM says 15-20. Either way it's slack tide at around race time, which is good.
ahah! It all makes sense now...
So are they joining up with SYC for the round Crab race? This appears on the SYC calendar as well, as does the two races on the 27th.
Two separate clubs- work quite independently of one another, although on good terms- some of the SYC small boat sailors do come up for the PPSC club racing sometimes. Anyone/ everyone is welcomed anytime.
Also- it is boat club race format- so goes ahead if strong wind, light wind or no wind- so need a high volume floaty board and need to go up wind- usually a centreboard.
We had a nice Sunday afternoon of course racing at Paradise point.
We had five sailboards. Mistral, Exocet, Phantom, RSX, Techno, the whole range. Variable westerlies with enough strength to get planing at times and pull away from the dinghies. Most of us will be there again next Sunday if anyone else is interested in joining in.
It is just soo much better to have other people/ sailboarders to sail a course with. Interesting to see the Exocet D2 on the water as well- most interesting/ inovative design concept for such a long time. Thanks to Tony, Jamie, Cam & Son for adding to the enjoyment of the day.
Yep, was a good day. Good to practice old skills - mark rounding in 3 knots of tide is an art that came back to me in a big hurry after I nearly collected a large fixed navigation beacon :)
Not sure if I'll make it next week, and certainly not the week after, which is a shame. Still, I should be good for Manly on the 26th.
Well done guys, that's an impressive turn out.
Arg, I couldn't make it last Sunday but I will be there next Sunday (20th).
Will anyone be backing up?
if anyone wants to race for the next couple of weekends, i have three complete RS 1 packages available to try. give me a hoi at surf fx 0755313199 or call in to the shop. cheers ian ![]()
Paul, if you can get them to club, I would be happy to sail an RS1 so we can have a one design contest. I will still bring my board in case we get some extra visitors.
Can not get there for the 20th- prior commitment, might be able to get them down there for the following week. One design racing sounds like a great idea- may the best sailor win.
Haircut i have a sup/windsurfer with a centreboard and a 8.0 mtr rig that will go around the course. Let me know if you want to try that.
It was a pretty good turn out with Cam (& son), Tony and even HC gracing the course.
...and also was that Ken Done out there? ![]()
