Yep, to make it easier on the feet sail in closer to the bank then in rather than walk across the rocks. If it is a big out tide you just walk the gear out along sand bank to where mud, sand and water meet then walk in a few metres straight into deep water (it surprising that people whinge about wello at low tide but neglect to walk up the sand bank when they walk at least that distance to the river at burrum).

You should come there tomorrow on the southerly gestie, low tide is never a problem- most walk out I go down the boat ramp and tack a few times. Put that board and sail into some conditions it's meant for with the swells out the back or enjoy the flat water over the reef if you must.

We'll convert ya to the wello one day [}:)]

yeah mate, usually do the bank run but today just walked across the rocks. it wasn't too bad. if it was windier i would have sailed a bit further upwind and gone along the bank. i've come to really like wello in a NE wind.

jeez, the long walk along the bank. couple of times i've been knackered by the time i've walked out along the bank to hit the water.

southerly...... hmmmmm. sounds like VP! i still have my standards.

standard 1 - never sail at a spot that requires walking down a boat ramp
standard 2 - never sail at a spot that requires walking down concrete steps
standard 3 - always fond the best spot with grass and sand for a given wind direction.

gotta be honest. i doubt i will ever sail the southerly side of wello again i'd rather go to VP or redcliffe. yes the swells out at the end leeds are awesome!

@Scully: No vulcan today :( but I managed to stand my first one yesterday :) What else to expect after seriously trying them since mid October. I've been told already that it will take a while before I stand my next one. Hmmm ...
You went quite well today! I don't know if it is good to take advise from someone who is learning as well. However, only thing I saw a few times is that you lean too far backward while jibing. Otherwise, looks all good to me.
