I never understood why they can't setup a permanent drain at a certain level to keep the lake at a certain height. Wouldn't that be relatively easy to do, or is there more to it?
Maybe could be done but it would change the ecosystem. A stable, sanitised shoreline is not the best for a lot of wildlife.
Its funny though, in that the opening to the ocean is silted up with sand, and they have to use a front end loader to cut an opening to the sea. If they let nature take its course, they would end up with a flooded area, or a stagnant pond. Instead they let it build up, cut an opening, and then let it build up again.
How about two drains, with a choice of lake heights? One for Formula boards, and one for slalom boards?

They could alternate between them to keep any wildlife happy that like varying tide lines.
I'm only annoyed that the times I have tried to sail there, it has been either not enough wind, or too shallow.
