SO....
Through intensely good fortune and karma I've become the owner of a Lechner a390. It is the board I've been dreaming of, I figured I was going to have to make one to the lines one day.
I was wanting a D2 board that was just a bit more optimised for higher winds and chop than the DB2 that I've been riding, The Lechner certainly is an improvement in this regard. It's not night and day and the DB2 is still a damn fine board, it does some things better than the Lechner and is a sweet sweet ride.
Alas I have room in my life for just one board. The DB2 needs a new home. I'm putting this quietly in the Pittwater thread first for entirely selfish reasons - ie: I would love another D2 board to sail with me from time to time.
Anyone local keen to take on the DB2? PM me or better yet, send me an email: saltyheaven7@gmail.com
The fine print:
- It leaks a bit. Sometimes not much, sometimes a fair bit. I think it's coming in around the join between the dagger case and the deck, this will probably need a repair at some stage which I'm happy to help with locally. (Mind you, I usually sail for about 4 hours so for shorter sails this may not be a problem.)
- It needs a fin. The Lechner came without a fin and I was coincidentally using an a390 fin on the DB2. Simple US box fin, no big deal.
Other than that all is good. It takes a standard screw in mast base. The track works well, it comes with the custom dagger board that I made for it.
- There's a bit more info and a few pictures of the work I did when I got the board here:
