Marmong Point Sailing Club extends an invitation to all classes of windsurfers to attend our annual Mid-Winter Classic 2010 Regatta. It will be held over the weekend of 17th-18th July.

Registration starts at 10:30am Saturday morning (17th) with the earliest race start 12 noon.

All sailors will need to be a member of an AWA affiliated club for insurance purposes etc. For those not in a club, signup on the day to Marmong SC (or perhaps Stormriders for Sydney based people) will be available.

So come along, dust off the cobwebs and get in some practice before the 2010-2011 Summer season begins! And don't miss the famous Marmong Regatta barbie on Saturday afternoon after racing.

All classes are welcome, from Formula (including FE+) right through to Wallies and Raceboards.

So come and join us at the club, George St, Marmong Point (Lake Macquarie/Newcastle). 1.5 hrs drive North of Hornsby.

More details will be posted here once they are available.

Look forward to seeing you here for a hopefully windy weekend.

PS - dont forget that Marmong races formula and longboards every Saturday (wind permitting) from 1:30pm. All invited.

Hi all,

Just a reminder that the Marmong Midwinter regatta is on NEXT weekend. So blow the cobwebs off your booms and polish your fins ready for a big weekend of racing.

The race officers Nev and Brian have been busy coming up with some great innovations and courses, including separate handicap scoring for the Sunday to keep things interesting.

Registration is $30 per sailor which includes dinner from the BBQ to be held after racing on Saturday.

We hope to see you there on Saturday morning for registration from 10:30am.

Cheers
James

Nick, if you havent heard back from the AWA by the end of the week you can just put an X or 1 or something with electrical tape on your sail. All the guys on the boat need is some way of identifying you as you finish. It doesnt have to be an AUS number.

There's also a kiddy playground about 300 metres walk along the lake, a cafe at the marina about 500 metres walk away and the Lake Macquarie art gallery is a 2 minute drive (10 minute walk). A big kiddies playground (apparently the largest in the southern hemisphere!) is a 5 minute drive away at Speers Point.

But really, who wouldn't love to stand out in the cold wind and watch us sail off in the distance all day!

Look forward to seeing you saturday.

James,

"A big kiddies playground". Is that

1 - A big playground for kids
2 - A playground for big kids (for example an irishman in his late 30's)

Well the forecast is looking ordinary for tomorrow unfortunately. But we all know the BOM doesnt always get it right And Sunday is showing some promising signs of good light wind formula conditions.

In terms of wind minimums, its up to the race committee, but usually once most of the fleet can stay on a plane (about 8 knots?) they will call a start.

We will run the BBQ either at the end of racing tomorrow or after the race committee calls off sailing for the day.

Don't forget your 12.0's! Looking forward to catching up.

Cheers

Thanks to all who competed in todays racing, especially the guys that made the trek up from Sydney.

After a day of waiting for the wind on Saturday, four races were held on Sunday in an unexpectedly strong westerly gusting up to 19 knots at times. Sam Parker won 3 of the races with Byron McIlveen right behind him and scoring the win in race 4.

In FE+ Bruce Healey proved that he should go back to the two-lap fleet by winning all the races on his 9.8.

Final results will be posted here on Seabreeze once they've been finalised and the guys on the start boat also took a few pictures that will be put up.

Thanks to Neville and Brian for running the racing and to Geoff and the other club guys for all the behind the scenes organising.

Our next regatta will be the Marmong Spring Regatta in September. Dates will be posted up here when they're locked in with Windsurfing NSW.

Cheers

Cheers to Marmong for putting on a great day of racing on Sunday. Gets you nice and fired up for the Summer's racing doesn't it.

Great turn out with plenty of new faces making keeping things interesting for FE+. Then again maybe Nick could go straight to the 2 lap fleet?

Didn't 5 races get run James?

Sam.

Sam,
Marmong has to uphold a fine tradition in taking out the FE+ class with a ring in .

I will be happily handing on the "Fine Cotton" cloth to Nick with the simple caveat that he doesnt beat me around the course in '11/'12.

thanks again to Nev, Brian, geoff etc for a good weekend

Gentlemen, contrary to popular belief, there were 5 races on Sunday.
Another myth to be destroyed. Bruce won 2 races not 4. Sorry to destroy the moment Bruce.
I will have the results and some pictures up tomorrow.
Thanks to the diehards that turned up and had at least 1 great days racing.

Hi Geoff,

Sorry mate but I think I mucked up your scoring.

It was my first ever race I wasn't sure what I was doing. In the first race I saw all the other sailors going round for a second lap so I did too but after the first race I realized that I could and SHOULD be doing one lap so for the rest of the regatta I was only doing one lap.

Sorry to mess you round. No need to recalculate my score in the FE+ group - just scratch me from the open class.

Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Geoff,
i only did 1 lap in the second race so i'll have to forego that 4th place...
I was still at the top mark when the race started..

Seano, Andy, how refreshing to see honesty rear its wonderful head.
My results are merely a tabulation of the sheets supplied by the boat guys, and the entry forms.
As a reward for your honesty and to let the world see that honest people can prosper, we will leave the results as is. Besides if I change them someone else will find a mistake and it will become the never ending story.
Next year when/if we find a sponsor and offer some real incentives we will have to get serious.
Happy days
